While being fully aware of the national short staffing issues, my parent is receiving sub-standard care. The facility is not meeting the lowest of expected standards.
* The skilled nursing food is gross, cold, and less than acceptable in quality.
* The agency aids (some, not all) do not follow the rules, they do not respond to patient needs, they do not know the rules.
* The management do not return calls when issues arise and the patient care results in injury or neglect.
This place was once revered. It is not anymore. I am sick with sadness and dispare with what I am seeing daily.
Believe me when i say that some of the caretakers are above and beyond AMAZING. But a few cannot care for all.
The problem i see is the lack of problem solving by management. I do not see action in correcting mistakes. I do not see-or hear-implementation of a plan of action to correct wrongs. Apologies are empty when the issues are not

My brother was at the nursing home part of the Renaissance. Our experience was excellent. The service and the staff were tremendous. They're always there for anything he needs. The grounds are beautiful and it's right up a golf course.

Independent living is fine, but I would not put another loved one in the assisted living or nursing care facility. All of the incidents mentioned in past reviews also happened to my dad.
Although I would add fighting to get him a shower and medications that were never received to the list. My suggestions for improvement would include: higher ratios of staff to residents, better (any?) sensitivity training on the elderly and dementia, better pay for aides, improving the food quality (like fresh fruit options!), a clear chain of command to address concerns, a culture of respect and an expectation that phone calls and emails will receive responses.
Maybe these are universal problems in elder care facilities, but I would much rather take my chances on a new place when my mom’s time comes.

I am the daughter of a now deceased resident. I visited him weekly, as did his other 3 daughters. He developed a large bed sore just prior to his death. He also had been admitted to a local hospital with a fever and possible sepsis and dehydration. He was returned to the nursing home afterward. He would sit for hours waiting to be helped to the bathroom or to have his diaper changed. Because of that he would not drink enough liquids. Some of the staff were condescending to him. He was wheel chair bound and was injured while being pushed down the hall on one occasion. I realize facilities are short staffed now but there has to be some solution to these concerns. He was on Medicaid which I think was the biggest factor.

Our Father spent the last few weeks of his life at the skilled nursing facility at The Renaissance. During this time, he fell four times and developed a stage III bed sore. The facility offers too few staff and inappropriate adaptive equipment to meet the needs of seniors with limited mobility.
