My mother is a current resident of Devon Oaks. She moved in this past March of 2022. Mother is wheelchair bound, has dementia, severe arthritis and other medical issues. She was not happy about moving to Devon Oaks in the beginning because she unrealistically felt she could be more independent than she actually was capable of. Barely 9 months in and she positively loves it there and has told me several times in recent weeks that "they take care of me just like you and your sister would". I spend hours per week on the phone with her and I'm always impressed with the kindness of staff members, including the maintenance staff. Just last week a member of the front desk staff helped her move furniture to make room for her Christmas tree. They are family-oriented. They have Memorial Day Picnic and outdoor Christmas Tree lighting with cocoa and cookies they invite families to. They also invite the families to Thanksgiving dinner. From the moment Mother arrived they stressed it was her home and they go out of their way to make it feel that way.

When I toured this building it seemed like it would be the perfect fit for my mom. The process was pretty quick in getting everything together, and fortunately mom was on board with the move early on. Unfortunately, shortly after moving in my mom expressed dissatisfaction with the services. At first we figured they were growing pains, but after expressing the need to talk to someone about the issues, she was dismissed and never given the attention to her concerns. She has made some friends but they all seem to feel the same way. There are no consistent faces except for a few nurses and the housekeepers. If we call for an aide it takes a while to get a response and it’s always someone new who doesn’t know anything about my mom. I feel as though we were misled early on about what expectations we could have. All sounded great, which should have been a red flag. I think a lot of places are struggling with the staffing crisis right now, but not listening to customers who pay several thousand dollars a month is disappointing. My family feels like the salesman was just that- a sales man. We thought the care for my mom was genuine, but that seemed to be short lived. We will continue to keep mom here and hope to get some resolution.

I didn't like Eliza Jennings because it was right across the street from the huge Crocker Park shopping district, and I wanted to be someplace that has trees. It has a very pleasant backyard and patio, and so far it's fine. The staff is fine.

Eliza Jennings is a nice facility, the only problem I had is that it doesn’t have a level in the Alzheimer’s unit. The staff who assisted me was very nice. They’re doing exercises when we visited.

Devon Oaks accepted my father in-law. The apartments are very nice. They work with lots of dignity, not giving up on the care for the elderly, and I believe they have a lot to offer.

I had a very negative experience with Eliza Jennings. I actually had a contract and I thought we had an agreement and they reneged on their verbal representation. So, as far as I am concerned, I would not recommend anybody to go to Eliza Jennings based on my experience and it was very hard for me. We've visiting different places. We've tried to look and assess everything and we thought we found a perfect one and we're almost there except for the agreement and then they turned around and they totally changed what they had represented and that was just a worse experience for me. They really need to educate their staff, especially the sales people on what they could and could not do and not misrepresent just because they want to get a sale. Although the facility was nice and I thought they were taking good care of the people that were there to the best that they could, even though they don't have enough staff, it was discouraging and disappointing that the people that they had representing the facility did not know about the services nor the financial aspect of the services and how it worked and how it would impact the individual's ability to live there and to reside there.

Eliza Jennings is near a community where I had a business. The staff was helpful and the rooms are okay. They had activities there.

The staff was wonderful and always very friendly. My aunt said that they treated her with dignity and respect at all times. While I was there they weren't intrusive but they were there if I needed them. The facility was always spic and span and I never feared for my aunt.
