The Woodlands of Shaker Heights was a wonderful place, but it wasn't a good fit for my mother because it didn't provide 24-hour medical care. They had a cafeteria-type dining area. It was small but it was very nice.

They showed us both assisted living and memory care at The Woodlands of Shaker Heights. It was pretty good. I liked what I saw. I liked the interaction that I saw among the nurses and the residents as well as during dinnertime. I liked how the cook engage with the individuals as well. They made it fun. I heard somebody telling a joke to one of the residents, and I thought that was cute. The staff during the tour was nice and helpful. She wasn't supposed to be the person that did the tour, but she took time out of her busy schedule to help us out. I liked the size of the rooms. They were pretty decent sizes. They do well with their upkeep. They showed us a lot of areas where they do extracurricular activities and things like that. We went during dinnertime, so I didn't get to see anybody engage in anything. I did not try their food, but it smelled really good. The dining area was nice, clean, and spacious. I liked their outdoor areas as well. It's nice and homey.

I went to The Woodlands of Shaker Heights. I highly considered having my mom there. It felt friendly, it was very clean. They made me feel very welcomed. They had an activities room, a little social where one could have an ice cream or a little bistro setting, and it was to me a place that made the seniors feel welcomed, and they had a variety of things to do there. I did see the menu, they had it posted for the week. At the time I was there, they were not serving food, but they appeared to have a nice variety in their menu. It was accommodating for my mother, at least for her choice of things that she liked to eat. It was comfortable, and enough space for my mom to move around.

I went to The Woodlands of Shaker Heights. It was nice, but the rooms were extremely small. It seemed clean, it's 2 or 3 floors, I met the manager in the office, and she took me around and showed me the different rooms. It seemed okay, they have activities there, but I didn't see any, and just went through the facilities. The dining area looked nice, and it seemed clean and airy. The manager was very polite, very patient, and seemed to know her job.

The Woodlands of Shaker Heights was very nice and the people are very caring and told us all the information we needed to know. The apartments were very nice. The dining area and sitting room were wonderful. The staff was very nice and helpful, from the girl at the front desk, to the lady who showed us around the facility, to the aides we saw while we were there.

The Woodlands of Shaker Heights was in a busier area. I didn't get the friendliness from the people there. Everything was nice and looked clean. It was just more of a sterile environment. It was not really homey. The people there looked a little stiff and weren't friendly. They didn't really welcome me like the rest of the places that I visited.

My mother has only been at The Woodlands of Shaker Heights for a month. It was close to home, and they have memory care. So far so good; it has been fine. They do have all amenities like a salon and activities to do. My mom's room has a television, and they provide cable and a phone. The menu is pretty standard, and the food is good.

This is a very terrible facility.for your loved ones The food is very terrible for the residents. Short of staff members for the residents It's looks pretty in the building but not good service. I had my family member there every time I came to see them. I was not satisfy with the service of care. I try to talk to the Executive Director who had a bad attitude towards me, very rude. He didn't even know my family member. In my personal opinion this company only cares about getting their money on time, going up on rent , and not giving better service to the residents.

Please do not move your love one to this facility if they have dementia, alzheimer's disease or medical problems. My experience was with the 3rd floor of this facility which is Memory Care. The marketing staff gave my family a false sense of security about the care that my parents would receive. Within 2 days I realized the care wasn't good. The residents on the 3rd floor seemed to be basically on their own, especially in the evening. I realized that there was a shortage of staff and the staff confirmed that it was normal for them to work short staffed. At one point the ratio was 2 staff for 20 residents. Most of the few staff members on the 3rd floor did not have training in the area of memory care. We visited my parents everyday and sometimes twice a day to ensure proper care from the family if not from the facility. My mother went into this facility with small sores on the side of her feet from being a diabetic. Within a month's time my mom's feet were infected with huge ulcers. When my mom was admitted to Ahuja Hospital for another medical problem, one nurse commented that the condition of my mother's feet was caused by pure neglect. The heels of my mother's feet looked as if a chunk of skin was missing and the sores had turned black. The nurses at Woodlands dressed her feet several times a week but did not report the steady deterioration of the condition of her feet. Her feet were always wrapped when our family visited. We thought the nurses were caring for her feet properly. Within a month of moving to the Woodlands my mother went from walking to not being able to walk. I could write a whole lot more but I will sum this up. This is definitely not a facility that will deliver what it promises. This facility is pretty and it is clean but the quality of care is very poor. I would not recommend the memory care floor of Woodlands of Shaker. We removed my parents from this facility within 2 months.

We went to visit Shaker Heights and thought my parents were interested.Next thing I know, I received a bill because she said that they were moving in and they were billing me. I think that was weird and pushy. It’s very small. They wanted to put two people in a small, 4'x4' room. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The most awful place you can place a love one especially those with memory problems. My aunt was always sitting in her room not visible from the common area. The caregivers were there to take care and entertain her.Very boring place a stack of old puzzles, picture books and nail polish. No one on one with those that needed it the most on the third floor. i would always ask where is the quality of life. The majority of the staff seem to report to work to entertain each other. Each time I visit my aunt I had to freshen her up. Her face never looked like it was washed and she smelled of urine. How sad that the state allow abuse in institutions like this one. There in the business for money while love ones suffer.

I though Woodlands was a good fit for my sister the way they had it advertised and the way the person doing the interview presented it but it really wasn't. The rooms were small, they had no activities for the residents and they don't have any knowledge of memory care, Alzheimer's and dementia. The food is horrible because it has a lot of sodium and my sister had a high blood pressure. They could improve on the having more activities and be aware on Alzheimer's and dementia care.
