Had enough park east
September 06, 2016
The problem with this facility is the nursing staff/stnas/management. My mother was here and she always had a complaint with the aides and majority of the nurses. She would say the aides where rough demanded residents to go to bed when they wanted they couldn't stay up the aides always on their phones at the desk with some of the nurses creating drama and gossiping about one another. Everything was always late no one had any compassion what so ever. Nurses would not listen to my mother's complaints. My mama said there was an agency nurse who not only listened to my mama but immediately handled all of her needs she said the staff gave this nurse a hard time my mama loved this nurse and she looked forward into seeing her because she made it easier for her to be at park east she said the nurse was there for a short time because she no longer seen her and when she asked about her a staff member said she wasn't coming back this devastated her. My mom went to the administrator to complain about the staff but she was never available and when she was she was not interested or did she do anything about it. I could go on about the problems this facility has. My opinion park east needs a new administrator, new aides and some better nurses.. until then this will be a messy building... The only good thing about park east is the maintenance director he went above his job description helped out and my mom remembers him well.. Genesis needs to clean house if you want this business to last...

My mother has been in Park East Care & Rehabilitation Center for three months now. She is going to meet with her primaries today to address her condition. They manage her on a day-to-day basis and provide the physical therapy, speech therapy, memory care, and all that. I have 24-hour access to go see her anytime. I can go there first thing in the morning and late in the evening. That is a good thing. She works with her therapist daily to work on her speech, memory, walking, hand motions, and things like that. The staff is very helpful. I enjoy all of them, and their communication is really good. The place is OK. They serve meals three times a day. They have doctor on-site.

The nursing staff there for the most part has been very friendly with her and us as she acclimates to living there, which is a big change from home. She has been a bit fretful, and one nurse in particular always takes the extra time to sit with her and hold her hand until she feels better.Another thing that we loved about the facility was the daily activities. There's bingo, arts and crafts and lots of other things that got her interacting with the other residents and feeling "social". Also, when her sister had to come to Park East for a short time for rehab, they were nice enough to room them together. My only criticism would be that some rooms are without televisions. In this day and age that seems unheard of. They sure do go the extra mile. And it shows.
