Forest Hills Place was a very nice facility. The staff walked us through all the areas. She was nice. They have the single rooms, which they call something else. There were one-bedroom and studio apartments. They had an activity calendar posted on the wall. They do take the residents out. They had a courtyard, a library, and places where you could sit with fireplaces. They had one area if the residents wanted to cook. Basically, it was for those who did not have a kitchen in their apartment.

What I liked the best about Forest Hills Place was that it seemed like the staff were extremely busy. They had no rooms available, but they were taking people for a waiting list and the staff we met were very helpful in trying to help us understand how their system works and how we would have to deal with it. I appreciated their frankness about how Medicare and Medicaid would interface with what care my sister would need. They schedule three meals a day and snacks are available. You could eat in their dining room or your room. The physical appearance of the facility was average. The housekeeping was doing the floors when we were there, so they have some kind of scheduled maintenance of the hallways and the lobby. I liked the layout/floor plans of the rooms for assisted living. They were pretty good. I also liked that it's not a multi-level/high rise building.

We're hoping to move my dad to Forest Hills Place. We chose it because of the proximity to my home and his doctors, the staff, and everybody we met was helpful. The place was nice, it was clean, and it didn't smell like a medical facility, and didn't smell like old people. The amenities that are included with the rent are nice. I felt like it was worth it. Outside of the personal care stuff, some housekeeping and laundry, they have scheduled activities all day, exercise every day, and just the variety of activities they have when we went on the tour. Somebody was doing manicures, there was a lot offered to them, and they have choices of things to do. We did not try the food while we were there, it wasn't a mealtime, but they have a 24-hour little snack bar, and we checked that out. Everything was beautiful. They have a big courtyard where they can sit, there's also a balcony on the second floor so they can go outside, and there are four to five different common areas that are like living room areas, and sitting spaces where you can sit and chat with people, or if you have guests to sit down with. There's a lot to do outside of the apartment.

My uncle has only been at Forest Hills Place for a month, but it seems to be a very caring environment and he seems to be happy. Unfortunately, right now, he may stay there because it's a 120-mile drive for my mom to visit him, so she is looking for somewhere closer. The food has been an issue for him. He used to have a low-salt diet and he said that the food is not meeting that requirement at this time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facility is very clean and inviting. They have an activities director and I have seen the residents participating in activities such as bingo. With Covid measures right now, they're not able to take field trips that they once did, but I know they do have other activities. He has only been there for a short period of time, but so far, we have been very pleased.

We have seen Forest Hills Place. My husband is probably going to stay there for a week sometime this month. It's for respite care because I'm going out of town. We were very impressed with it. The staff did a wonderful job of showing us around. The staff member who gave us the tour is a very upbeat person and she has followed up with me. I expressed an interest in one of their stuffed chairs to be in the room. I asked for one of those nice lounge chairs and they're going to put it in his room. I thought that was very accommodating of them and very nice of them. The room is a nice size. It has a nice sized bathroom that is bigger than our bathroom at our house and the shower has a built-in seat, which I thought was very nice. There is a microwave, a little refrigerator, and a little eating table with two chairs. They have a dining room, a lounging room with the TV, and an activity area. The facility is very clean and very nice.

Forest Hills Place was not a good fit for my parents. My mother was assisted living, and my father was in the dementia unit. They were both in the memory care unit because they wanted to stay together. They did not pass meals on time, they did not do their rounds every two hours, they did not have a working pendant for my mother, and they did not have the call buttons working in the rooms for patients to push. They say that they make sure that all the residents eat, but they don't, and if they don't eat, they make sure that they give them a supplemental meal that they will eat, but they don't, they just take the plate. They hadn't taken my father's blood sugar. It's like a plethora of neglectful situations, which they should be assisting them with. They weren't prepared for them. They didn't know they were moving in on that date, so they didn't have medication ready for them. It just wasn't good. I spoke on the phone with them every day mainly about the same issues, from moving in until they left. No one should have a whole pair of jeans soaking wet with urine, so there's no way they're doing their rounds.
