Alpine House of Maple Heights is assisted living. It's a smaller dwelling that's more secure than where my father is now, so I give them props on the security. The food comes with the rent so you don't have to pay extra for meals, so I give them credit on that as well. And it's affordable for elderly citizens who are on a fixed income and don't have extra money. This one is elderly-friendly. There's no trouble trying to connect with the staff. We haven't tried the food but they showed us the meals. At the time that I applied, there was one room available that would have been on the second floor. They were accommodating of the fact that I wanted to make it difficult for him to leave, so they were going to put him on the second floor.

Alpine House of Maple Heights is nice. The rooms are a little small. My brother says my dad doesn't need a lot of room, but I'm going off from my take on it and I don't think that he would like the room being that small. Everything would have been all in one place, and that's not what he's used to, so that's the only reason I didn't go with that. However, on the flip side of it, to give it a great review, they are very clean, they were very courteous, and the young lady answered all of my questions. They didn't have memory care. They did a really good job with the remodeling. The rooms are nice, it's just to me, they're too small, but if someone doesn't mind living in a small space, then that's fine. They have a very spacious meeting area. The place is very well lit up probably because they're on the corner, and to me, for my dad, that wasn't a good idea because it's a busy street and he's in a wheelchair and he wanders, so that wouldn't work out for him. It's a very nice place. The staff stayed on his job, and he called, 'Did you make a decision yet? I don't mean to bother you.' He wasn't rude, and he was very professional. Overall, if I were to pick a place, it would be Alpine over the other facility. They have been in existence for two years, and they don't have a lot of residents at the moment. They're building up their clientele. However, I did see a few people that stay there, and they looked pretty comfortable to me. They also have a couple of vans out there to take them shopping or whatever. It was an aide that showed me around. Another thing that I like is that they step up when the director is not there. They don't just say, 'Well, can you come back?' and they don't do that. The young lady knew what she's showing, and she did a very good job. The facility is very clean in there.

Alpine House of Maple Heights had everything I would need. They provide assistance with bathing, meds, meals, and light housekeeping. Everybody has their own room, too. It's really nice and the staff has been very helpful. They have a game room with pool and foosball tables, a beautiful dining room, a sauna room, and an outside smoking area. When you walk in the door, it doesn't smell. I saw a studio apartment, and it comes with a dorm-sized refrigerator and a microwave. You control your own heat and air conditioning, and they can either come furnished or you can do it yourself, then you have your own bathroom. You're allowed to leave the premises as long as you sign in and out, and you would have to wear a Life Alert in case you fall.

The rooms at Alpine House of Maple Heights are spacious. There are also nice sitting areas. They also have a lot of amenities like the spa, game room, a salon, and sitting areas outside. The staff that toured us was super nice and answered all the questions we had. There's also one guy I talked to, who's been calling me, checking up, and asking me if I need help with the paperwork. It's assisted living, and the place was pretty clean. It also felt really homey.

Alpine House of Maple Heights had a room that had been staged. I didn't see the actual living quarters of the people who were there. We just saw a staged room and the different parts of the facility. It was clean. They seemed to be very organized with what they would do for my relative and how it would get done. I saw the eating area and the different sitting rooms that they had for reading. They had an area there where they could go and watch movies, a game room, a medical room where the doctor and the nurse were supposed to be, and an exercise room for those that need therapy or different things like that. I thought that was good. The facility was clean and nice. The areas were set up well. They showed us different places, the furnishings, and things like that. As for the individual room that my relative would be getting, we were told to bring furniture in because the room would come without anything in it. The only thing it would have would be a microwave and a refrigerator, and anything else you wanted to have would have to be supplied. I only saw one staff and that was Sean. He was very nice and very helpful. He answered the questions that we asked. He was very helpful to us with the information that he gave.

When I first came down to Lamplight Inn, a couple of nurses really worked with me. I have a couple of favorite nurses that I know really care about what's really going on with their patients. I had a couple of run in and a couple of disagreements. But overall, everything is alright here. I'm satisfied with my living quarters. I'm satisfied with the dining, and the eating. I don't go downstairs because I do a lot of my own cooking. I like a lot of vegetables. They serve a lot of meat and pork, and I'm trying to stay away from a lot of meat and pork. But I do eat their food, and it is alright. I get the medication on time. I clean my own room, but they told me they have to do the bathroom every week. They do a good job on that. It is a really big room. It is designed and painted with nice wallpaper. Some rooms have bathrooms, but I have a shower because I can't use a bathtub because of my leg. The environment is homey. If you don't have anything, you come here. They might have some stuff to help you out. In my room, I have a couch, a recliner, a bedroom set, TV, and microwave and a refrigerator. I also have a porch where we can go in the summertime with chairs out there. On Tuesday, they do the nails for the women. They have bingo, and they take them on trips. We have a bus that takes them to the doctor or shopping or different things. I recommend it because they have good, caring people here.

This facility has made a complete turn around over the years. Activities are always happening and the food is versatile! Not bad at the the pricing options either.
