Carroll Place was a very inviting facility. The person that took us on the tour was very upbeat, very engaging, and seems to be taking special interest in guests. They're very forthcoming with any questions that we had and very open and honest in terms of availability and in terms of what could be done and couldn't be done, and what isn't one of their normal offerings, which was good. We interacted with some staff members, they're all very engaging, very friendly, and very courteous. They have facilities like a library.

I toured Carroll Place. I would give it a 5 in terms of cleanliness and the staff. The staff was very engaged with the residents. The interactions with the staff were quite impressive to me. The cleanliness was great. There were a lot of choices there. We had dinner there, and the food was good. The residents were able to choose where they sat. There was less control of the residents. It seemed like the residents could come and go. What I would give a plus for them is that individual attention to the hobbies and interests of the residents were being taken into account rather than a one-size-fits-all.

My brother-in-law moved into Carroll Place a couple of weeks ago. We chose it for him because the place is clean and they're very attentive to their residents there. The place is assisted living and they're very caring. The staff responds to the residents quickly and takes care of all their needs. They have activities that go on that they keep the residents busy with. They have a social worker there too. The facilities are very clean and well taken care of.

I've been to Carroll Place when I had a friend out there, but I didn't actually take a tour. It was very nice, clean, and neat. The rooms were very nice. It had a small kitchen, quite a large room with a bed, and a place for a desk and a chair, and the bathroom was very nice and handicap accessible. I heard the food is excellent. The staff seemed very nice and attentive.

I had a friend in Carroll Place. It was really nice but kind of fancy. They had a lot of things going on, and she loved it there. They had exercise classes, outdoor activities, and took trips. They had a snack bar, a TV lounge, a beauty parlor, a barber shop, and an ice cream parlor. They had a very nice menu for their meals prepared by a chef and a very pretty dining room.

Carroll Place is organized, clean, and professional. The staff is very pleasant, nice, very knowledgeable, very caring, concerned about what we are looking for, very positive, very well spoken, and have a good handle on what they do there to take care of the residents.

Carroll Place is a small facility with too-small rooms. I wanted a two-bedroom, but they only had a one-bedroom. When I walked in, the lobby was too small with a sofa and two chairs. On the sofa sat a lady with her mouth wide open, sound asleep, and in the chair was a heavy-set man, sound asleep with his mouth wide open, too. That was not a good reception for a visitor. The dining room and the rest of the facility were beautiful, but I was turned off the minute I walked into the lobby.

I was impressed with Carroll Place for my mother. I like that it is a smaller community with fewer residents. They have variety of activities. They have a small workout room. They do themed evenings, and events such as bingo, and chair volleyball. They have clubs that are run by the residents themselves like card, and crafts clubs.

The staff at Carroll Place is extremely helpful. There is always somebody coming up to you to see if you need anything. I have noticed their interaction with the clientele; they are always helping someone to their room, asking what they need, or saying, "Yes, I'll get you a cup of coffee right away," and things like that. The whole facility is very nice and very clean without any odors. It is a very nice place. I will recommend it to anyone. They have big Thanksgiving and Christmas parties for the residents, relatives, and friends. They have a walking club and go out to lunch or take shopping trips. They publish a little newsletter for the month of all the activities for people to sign up. There are quite a few things for them to do. For the price, I think it is just perfect for our daughter.

My mother was a resident here from May 2013 to February 2014. I chose Carroll Place because they advertised they were an Alzheimer's care facility and my mother had been diagnosed with dementia a few years prior. The initial meeting with two representatives (who left shortly after my mother moved in) went very well. They answered all my questions and assured me my mother would receive the care she deserved. I didn't want to put my mother in a "lock down" facility so Carroll Place was a great fit in the beginning. After about 6 months, and once my mothers' dementia began to worsen, I realized the facility wasn't equipped to handle someone with dementia unless they were completely bedridden. I was asked to remove my mother after she eloped a few times and was told the staff wasn't able to look after my mother "because they had 40 other residents that needed care as well". It was shortly after this I noticed the "Alzheimer's care facility" notation was removed from their website. The fact is they weren't equipped to handle Alzheimer's patients from the get go, outside of basic care and handling. It wasn't all bad, though. They did get my mother to eat, which she wasn't when she was living on her own, even when I fixed her dinner for her. Generally the staff was very friendly and helpful when needed and the activities director was outstanding. All in all, when you take everything into consideration, the facility was average.

The facility itself is lovely; my dad is very happy with his room, and the aid who gives him most of his assistance is very good. But we are experiencing a lot of other problems and I would not currently recommend this place. The food is just awful, and apparently the residents are no longer even given a choice of entrees at dinner (not sure about lunch). Often he resorts to ordering corn flakes, which is not exactly a balanced diet. There is no kind of transportation provided by the facility (something I took for granted and didn't even think to ask when we were looking!) -- not a bus, not a car, not a van. Housekeeping has been less than ideal and on numerous occasions the family has had to clean the toilet because the cleaning person did not and it was, frankly, filthy. Hooking up the phone was a nightmare and took weeks. And the billing system is inefficient and unreadable. There is a general feeling that these guys are flying by the seat of their pants and figuring things out as they go along. Many of the staff are really lovely, but at this point we are not thrilled and, if not for the stress a move would put on my father, we would consider changing to another place.
