I toured Rocky River Village. The sample room they showed me was very nice. I didn't see a lot of staff there. It seemed like the ratio of people to staff wasn't particularly high from my own visual observation and the 15 minutes I spent walking around there. The people I met with were all very kind, and they were engaged with the residents. The room I saw was very nice. It was certainly better than any dorm room I lived in college. I didn't see any library or a chapel. I saw a movie room, which was very nice. The staff was very nice. They're putting money into it. They were painting the walls of one of the floors and they were putting down new flooring, too.

The tour at Rocky River Village was OK. I felt the place was somewhat dirty. You had to go down the stairs to the dining room, and I'm using a walker so that made it difficult. They had a ramp that came up, but it was just too steep. I decided that wasn't a place I wanted to go, and I didn't think they were as friendly as the other places. They need a better system of getting down into the dining room, if in fact you have to be in a walker. The statement that was made to me, "If you're coming up the ramp, somebody will help you." That's not necessarily true that somebody is always there to help you? I doubt it. The rooms themselves were a pretty good size, so that's a positive for them. I wasn't that impressed with the people taking me on a tour. They weren't people I was interested in talking to; everything was sort of a matter of fact. Nothing really against them, but that is my feeling. It didn't look old really, but it didn't impress me too much. They had a lot of activities.

It fits my friend's needs in terms of what he needs. He goes to Bingo and to a lot of other activities. I know they could go shopping if they want to. They have housekeeping, laundry, and they take him to his doctors' appointments. They also have a doctor on site. They serve all 3 meals, but he's not enjoying the food very much. There are aides that tend to be less helpful, but other ones are really great and they’ll do anything for him.

I was very pleased with the staff because they seemed to interact with the residents. The only concern I had was that the receptionist was not right by the door but in a room that's right outside the door. The woman was very pleasant and spent a lot of time with us answering our questions. It seemed like a good facility. They had a separate floor for memory care where it’s secure and residents can't leave without assistance. They have a nice dining area and another room for activities, different puzzles, and books that residents can use. They also had a room with a crib and doll so residents can go back to memories of raising children and caring for babies.

It was a good place They had elevator service that was working fine. The dining room was down in the basement, and the meal was good. Everybody seemed like family and were talking to each other and to my sister.

It was a very nice, clean place, and everybody was happy. They had a couple of different choices for the food every day, and the food looked and smelled good. The staff was very attentive to the residents. They knew the residents' names and were friendly and very knowledgeable. When you ask them a question, they knew what was going on.

It was my first choice. The staff was very nice, understanding, and empathetic. The people I talked to were all very happy. It’s an apartment-like setting.
