The whole River Oaks building was designed for memory care. I was very impressed with the wide aisles, the feeling of lightness in there, and the beautiful gardens that they had. Everything just seemed homey. They would allow my husband to be free and use his wheelchair and pedal around. I liked everything about it. The rooms were gorgeous, they were not at all like the hospital rooms or anything like that. I just absolutely loved it and we felt like we don't have to look further. I was also very impressed with all of the staff that I met. I like that they weren't locked in their rooms with their heads hanging down. They were outside, they were all over the building doing whatever they wanted to do, and they were doing crafts when I was there. I've been in nursing homes where everybody just sits in the hall with their head down and they weren't doing that. The facility is absolutely beautiful, it was completely new. I'm impressed with the way that the whole place was designed for people with memory care. They had everything.

We visited and it was very impressive. I was just concerned that there was no television in the room, because that's what my husband does all day. Everything looked very nice, clean, and inviting, and the patients were up and about. I saw a music group while I was there. The staff was OK.

My wife has been staying here for two months now. It's an Alzheimer's/dementia unit and so far I have been satisfied with the level of care and the way they treated her. They're able to see and work out problems better than an assisted living place. The whole unit is kind of in a circular walkway pattern, and they have different living room type areas, one of which has a large TV, and then they have a different unit for activities. They have a main dining area as well as other areas where they can serve people. The rooms are more than adequate, and they can provide them furnished if you want or you could bring in your own things. The hallways has chairs for people to sit down and rest, yet they're adequate for people who are on wheelchairs. It's a new place but has a certain home atmosphere, not hospital-sterile. They have bingo, singing, and crafts.

They gave us a nice tour, however, they didn't have Medicaid, so that didn't qualify for us. It was a nice place, and that would have been a good choice. It was clean, kind of new, and wasn't rundown.
