I was able to tour Provision Living at West Chester. It's a very beautiful facility, and it's very clean. The people there were really nice and attentive, they answered all our questions, and we had an extremely nice tour. The rooms were really nice, they were accommodating when I had indicated that I would rather have carpeting instead of flooring, if that was something that they'd do. They said that they would do what was needed. You'd have to bring your own microwave, there's not any in every single one of them. The laundry is down the hall, so there's not laundry in the unit itself, but it's spacious, and the ceilings are high. The people were very nice, and those who gave us the tour were extremely knowledgeable. I can't say enough good things about it. The reason why I didn't choose this place was because it's an assisted living facility, and I just need independent living.
One thing that they had which was wonderful and made it really hard for me to say no, was they have these infrared cameras in the units, in the rooms and bedrooms. So should somebody fall, it alerts the facility people, and they'd come to help you, so you don't have to wear a signal or anything. It's automatically monitoring you, but not monitoring you for what you're doing. They won't know who you are necessarily, but they have the capability of getting to you almost immediately should you need assistance. I received some phone calls prior to touring the facility, from the one who was running the place. It's a really small facility, there were only like 20 rooms. That for me is a little too small, because I want to make some friends. The food was very good.

I liked Provision Living at West Chester. Their technology is state of the art. They have sensors in every apartment that can monitor any type of quick movement. If an elderly person falls, it's almost like a heat sensor reading, it's kind of a blobby photo, but you can see and notify staff that the resident has fallen. I love that technology and that's in every apartment. I love the fact that the dining room is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., so if my dad slept until noon and wanted breakfast, he could get breakfast. They had lots of activities. We preferred them just for that cutting-edge technology. We looked at assisted living, but we liked the fact that if it got to that, we could keep him in the same facility and just move him into memory care.
Any time of the day, if a resident walks in the dining hall, they have a motion sensor that notifies the kitchen that somebody is there, so they don't have to have servers out in the dining room all the time. The technology notifies them that somebody has entered the dining room and they go out and take the person's order. The apartments were beautiful. There was a men's club, movies, card playing, board games, and jigsaw puzzles. They did excursions out into the community that residents could sign up for and take part in. They had guest speakers come in and talk about health issues and things like that, little info sessions that the residents could attend.

We've decided on Provision Living at West Chester just down the street from us. It would be like a literally five minute drive for us. And I think out of all the ones we've looked into, we're satisfied with that one. Besides the location, it was very clean and professional. It had a little more modern feel to it. The staff was very polite. This one really makes it feel like it would be home for my mother. It just felt very inviting and comfortable.
