I did a tour of The Heritage. The staff did a nice job, she showed me several rooms. They were all more than adequate and I was very pleased. They were more spacious than I thought they would be. It has nice bathrooms, walk-in showers, handicapped accessible and all. That was very nice. What I looked at was a one-room. The dining room was very nice. They told me they had bingo and different other social activities, which is nice so that the people living there can get out of the room and go do things. I believe they have someone there that does hair, a beauty shop for them. It has a nice entryway when you go in where you can sit, and a little side room. The staff was really good and more than informative, on a lot of things for me. The facility is very nice.

Food is generally good in terms of choices and preparation, but often served luke warm or cold. This reflects on staffing, not the food service. They had a fire drill during breakfast (7:30 am ... meals are served quite late here) and I sat at an emergency/exterior exit door for 10 minutes before seeing a staff person with an all-clear. Staying here short time I'm concerned. If I was here long term I would be quite frightened.

The Heritage has done very well so far in taking care of my relative. It is clean. They call up and keep close contact, and have a close relationship with the patients. They take care of their needs. The room that she is in is very nice. It has one-bedroom. Everything looks fine. They have a nice patio outside for sitting.

I wouldn't want to be at The Heritage unless it was necessary. The staff was really nice. I just don't think they have enough people to do the care, like get them up and walk them around during the therapy. They don't do much of that. The food was good, and they have lots of activities.

Overall, I would say The Heritage is a very nice facility. I appreciated how much the staff wanted the residents to feel at home, with pictures on the walls, nice dining rooms, carpet in some areas of the building. I have been in a few different nursing homes, that just felt cold and very hospital-like. The Heritage provides many different activities for the residents to keep them active and involved in the community. For the residents who are unable to leave the facility for outings, due to Alzheimer's or physical restraints, the facility provides fun activities daily. Through sensory activities-such as manicures, old time music, and classic movies, these residents have many opportunities to enjoy their time in the home! For the most part, the staff is very friendly and caring, but I have occasionally met a few stna's who don't seem to enjoy their job very much, and it's evident through the way they take care of the residents. Overall though, The Heritage is an excellent nursing home!!
