The important qualities about Taylor Place from my perspective as the daughter of a resident is the size--less frightening for my Mom; she was quickly able to make new friends; the friendly staff; and the wonderful Activities Director who has lots of fun and unique things for the residents to do from crafts to gardening to games!

Taylor Place is way understaffed. My mom is not getting care from them. She would ring the buzzer and it would take 45 minutes for her to get answered. She wasn't getting her medication at the scheduled time too. However, there was a couple of staff that were awesome people, but every time you walked in, there was just different staff. There were all kinds of activities for them. You can smell urine, though, as soon as you walked into the facility.

My wife and I enjoyed the tour we had with Taylor Place. We got to see a one-bedroom, and I liked the way it was laid out. We both can take care of ourselves and we don't really need the assisted part right now, but we can live there, and as we transition, we can flow right into the assisted part of it also. The place was nicely decorated, well taken care of, and clean. They got a beauty shop and quite a few amenities. The residents have their own little space where they decorate outside the door and stuff, and that was very, very nice. It felt kind of homey. The person we met during the tour was fantastic. The nursing staff was very nice and the one girl, the maintenance person, was very friendly. Everybody greeted us and we met two of the residents in the one room that we saw, and they were nice enough to let us come in and look at how things were in their apartment.

My mom is now in Taylor Place. It is very convenient to where she lived, and she knew people that were there. She is very happy. We are very pleased with it. The place is small and nice with only 36 residents. It is very well decorated and very well kept. The food is very good. My mom was not eating when she was living by herself, but now she seems to be eating and is going to the meals.

My wife is in Taylor Place. It's one floor and it's a homey facility. They said they would take care of her until hospice. She has her own little studio. They come in and check on her every two hours. They put her on a clock for the bathroom because she can't tell you when to go (she has Alzheimer's), but she seems to get along pretty good in there. She is getting the care that she needs. They all seem to be good to her. My wife makes the people laugh and everybody gets along pretty good. She's able to feed herself and she seems to clean up her plate. It doesn't seem to bother, she eats whatever.
