Placed a relative there 4 years ago and Northridge was great. Moved this relative to a assisted living two weeks ago only because of the progression of Alzheimer's disease.

The Northridge didn't have what I needed. I needed a washer and dryer in place. They showed me that they have that out in the hallway, but I said no because I need my own. Otherwise, it was very nice. They have a very nice dining room, and they have very nice people there. It was an independent type that I visited, not in assisted living. I've seen the dining room and what they have in the little rec room there. The staff who gave the tour was very pleasant and understanding. The place is very clean and nice, I see nothing wrong. It's an older building but it's kept up very nice.

The Northridge seems very nice, and the senior-living apartments are a fairly good size. The only problem is the doorways are too small for wheelchairs, but the staff member was very nice and very accommodating. She wasn't in any kind of a hurry, and just let me look at four different apartments. She was knowledgeable about the place and kind of pointed out different things. We didn't actually go into the dining room and all that, but it was a glass door so I could still see it. It was nice, and it looked like a fairly nice restaurant, actually. Flowers were on all the tables, and it did not look institutional. You have to wear your mask the whole time of course. There was a whole list of activities, but I just can't remember them. There are transportation services to get you to the doctor, the dentist, and the grocery. It has a pleasant and friendly atmosphere, and they all seemed to be very nice people.

The Northridge had the same thing everybody else had, except it's smaller and not as nice. The whole thing was very sad, and it felt empty and kind of depressing. It was adequate, but I wouldn't recommend it. Instead of having a room for 100 people, they had a room for 15 people. They had a video room with three people in it instead of 30. Everything about it was small, but not really nice, just kind of sad. The woman who took us around was very neutral, wasn't really welcoming, and just gave us the minimum information we needed. She wasn't bad, but she didn't go out of her way to do anything.

I visited The Northridge, but I wasn't impressed. The rooms were very nice, but the two things against it for me were the continental breakfast -- which doesn't meet my needs -- and the fact that they're so far away from my son. One of their activities is Bingo. The staff was very nice but they didn't seem as friendly and welcoming as the ones in another community I visited. They were only serving two meals a day. It doesn't please me that I would have to adjust my dinner time with them, but the place looked well-maintained.

The Northridge was less expensive, and the rooms were nice, but it's only independent living. The assisted living was next door to it, but I was there for rehab, and I didn't care for it. You have to bring your own furniture, they had continental breakfast and a particular supper meal, but the rest of the meals you have to do yourself. They have Bingo, musical entertainment, and people come in to talk about health issues.

Northridge was low-key, homey, clean, and more to my mom’s liking. The staff was very nice.
