My mother is at Amherst Manor Retirement Community. It's the same place as she was before. She was in the nursing care area, and they were just waiting for a room to open up, so they moved her downstairs into the assisted living a week ago. It's fine. She's been there a year, and the staff members are alright. It's a nice enough place. It's a suburb, so it's kinda nice and quiet there. Just like everything else, they're always understaffed, and they're pretty restricted right now with their Covid rules. We haven't really been able to go in and see her for six months. Her room is fine, but we can't really see her other than call her and talk to her. Her room is pretty large compared to what she had before.

My loved one was a patient in the rehab section of Amherst Manor. The therapy staff was fantastic, but the nursing staff was seriously under-staffed. Call lights weren’t answered for 15-30 mins. No one was taken to the dining room for meals. My loved one sat in his own waste because no one answered the call light. Most of these workers seemed to really care—but there was nowhere near enough staff. My loved one ended up back in the hospital for a condition that was ignored by the staff. It took the family’s insistence to get the transfer to the hospital. Very, very disappointed. I honestly wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone at all.

Amherst Manor is nice. The staff is very nice, accommodating, and friendly. The grounds are nicely kept up and pretty clean. They also have other services like rehab, memory care, and a nursing home all in the same facility.

Nurses were very helpful and kind. The facility was kind of run down, however they made the best of it. The rehabilitation center was fabulous! The activities they have for the residents are very engaging and easy for those that had difficulties. The food was superb. Some of the Nursing Assistants didn't know what they were doing. The STNA's could have had more training and some could do with some sensitivity training. The Alzheimer's Unit is completely locked down with pin codes that everyone needs in order to leave. Which makes the unit great. They could do with changing the codes every now and then to make sure no one who isn't supposed to leave do so. The doors to the facility are locked down as well which is nice. I love that they decorate the facility for different holidays and have trick-or-treating for the children of the staff and residents.
