I didn’t care for the Oaks so much. It was nice, but the rooms were so small and pretty outdated. The meals were good and included continental breakfast and big meals at night. They offer art, crafts, and activities, and a lot of the residents had their art on display. The staff member I talked to was very nice. She explained that some of the residents have never done art before, and they’re exploring their artistic side.

The Oaks is an independent living facility. Both of my parents live there in a Bedroom plus den apartment. Included in the price are monthly cleaning services, free laundry machines, breakfast and dinner meals, shuttle service, and plenty of daytime and evening activities. The Bedroom plus den includes a large walk-in closet to complement 2 other closet plus a pantry. I have found the staff to be very caring, attentive to individual requests and quick to respond to community needs. The building and grounds are well taken care of. While the meals are kosher, there is a great variety offered at every meal. The portions are generous and the serving staff kind and attentive. The location of the facility is centrally located so that physician visits to any side of town are usually within 15 minutes. I am grateful that I don't need to worry about the atmosphere and location where my parents are staying!

The Oaks is a beautiful, updated nursing home with overall nice staff. My grandmother was here for a year before she passed away. There were some rough patches as some of my grandmother's possessions were stolen including jewelry and clothing. Also, I feel that she could have received better health care as she deteriorated much quicker when she moved to this facility. She also developed many bed sores from not being turned or moved out of bed enough. She did not go on many outings either while she was here which was disappointing. Some of the staff, however, was quite nice and really showed that they cared about her and did their best to interact with her on a consistent basis and not make her feel like a prisoner. I think in the past year they have updated many things and I hope the care is better for the current residents. Overall, I feel that most nursing home are very depressing places to be.
