This is no longer one of the better nursing homes in the area. Only a handful of CNAs and nurses do their job well or treat the residents with compassion. The very few who are good are really good. The large majority are really bad and less than caring. Even when fully staffed, call response times are frequently 45 minutes or more. Residents are left in the common room for hours. Many are ignored as they call for help while the CNAs sit in the office on their cell phones and socialize. Many do not take Covid seriously. Too many wear masks like chin guards and enter quarantine rooms without PPE. Requests from supervisors for any outpatient appointments, discussion with doctors or therapists, even maintenance needs such as broken wheelchairs take weeks or months to be addressed. Administration makes empty promises and excuses. They are more interested in making money off their residents than caring for them OR their employees. A $25. gas gift card is their idea of giving incentive to 3 workers who have shown perfect attendance and have their name entered into a drawing. No wonder the aides and nurses have low morale which shows in their work. They do not want to be there and it shows in their poor care for the residents. The therapy and rehab department colludes with the administration to turn short term rehab patients requiring skilled nursing care into long term residents. The head of the department displays no understanding of the challenges or needs of the elderly, does not have knowledge of rehab needed after a brain injury, and has no bedside manner or compassion whatsoever. This is not the place to go if you want your loved one to have any quality of life. Sad, because their reputation used to be good. Not anymore.
