My mother was in Ascension Living Our Lady of Peace, and our experience was not good at all. It was terrible. She was left on the toilet for an hour when the staff left home, and no one even knew she was on it. She's immobile and she got out of her bed to crawl to her wheelchair and got out into the hallway, because she called to go to the bathroom and waited for an hour. It was horrible. The food was terrible and she complained about the food instantly. The care was terrible, it was really bad. I didn't interact with the staff at all because they more or less didn't like to interact, and when we called it was hard to get a hold of the floor that she was on.

The care here is very good. The staff is caring and professional. The food is good. There is no odor that you find in many nursing homes. The communication with family is excellent. We are glad my mother has found a welcoming place.

Our Lady of Peace is very good. The staff is friendly, caring, and professional. They have bingo and social activities. The nutritionists are paying attention, and the food looks good. There's an activities room and an outside patio. It has a great, friendly atmosphere, and they care for my mom and the residents.

My mother in law (89) was placed in this facility after a stroke. This facility is on the campus of a local hospital and is 2 miles from their home where my father in law resides. She has been there for about a year. On the upside, there are some very devoted staff who do their best to maintain the quality of life for the residents. Those folks are dispersed throughout nursing, aides, recreation staff, dietary, maintenance. The food is generally of good quality but we wish there were more special diets as my mother in law is a diabetic. Our concerns are at times with the cleanliness as we would like her room addressed more thoroughly and at times the work ethic of some of the staff who seem at times to do the bare minimum. My husband visits his mother daily and to date we have not seen any abuse of neglect and his mother is quite alert and would speak up. On the outside, this is an attractive facility. Although it has room for improvement, I feel she is receiving reasonable treatment.

It was a most secure feeling when I would leave each day after having visited with my aunt. I was confident that she was receiving the best medical and health care as well as the best daily attention to her dietary and personal care needs. She had a medical mishap and the staff was quick to become aware of it and she was immediately transferred to a facility that could better serve her crisis situation before returning to OLP. I was impressed with the effacacy of their decision making process and with their cooperative communication with me at all times relating to her status. One of the most important aspects of my aunt's convalescing was that she was content at this facility and her wishes were valued and acknowledged. This gave her a sense of still being in control of her well being, even if others were involved with her decision making process. It was a positive for my aunt and her family.
