About This Community

Queens Adult Care Center/ALP is a modern and fully furnished 352-bed facility. It offers residents comfortable accommodations, delicious food, and an array of creative and innovative programs. Located in Elmhurst, in the New York City Borough of Queens, this facility is near two urban shopping malls, the recently expanded Queens Center, and the Queens Place Mall. It’s accessible to several nearby subway stations on Woodhaven Boulevard, Grand Avenue, Newtown and Elmhurst Avenue, as well as the local Q53, Q58, Q59, Q29, and Q60 bus lines. Queens Adult Care Center/ALP offers the New York State Assisted Living Program (ALP): This program is certified by the New York State Department of Health to provide Medicaid-funded home care services. The ALP is an alternative to nursing home that enables nursing home eligible residents to receive home health care services in the Adult Home delaying or preventing the need for admission to a nursing home. Care services are provided by an on-site licensed home care agency and a community certified home health agency (CHHA) under contract. At Queens Adult Care Center we work hard to ensure an independent living environment, where everyone can thrive, and succeed. We offer just the right amount of assistance tailored to each resident’s individual needs, enabling each person to live in the most independent and least restrictive environment. Queens Adult Care Center offers a wide spectrum of services including case management, recreational activities, assistance with self-administration of medication, and meal preparation.

I have to say this is a really nice place. If you have family that needs a place to stay this might be the place. My aunt has been living here for about 20 years. The staff is so nice and helpful to me and my aunt. I have found it to be really clean inside and the rooms are very nice. I have met quite a few of the staff and they have all been very pleasant to deal with. The people that live there range in ages. I met a young man probably in his 20's who just fell on hard times and needed to live there. He said that it was a great place and liked being there, it beats living on the streets he said.

I did not like Queens Adult Care Center nor the area it was in at all. It was dirty outside, and the staff was not so friendly nor accommodating. There was nothing good about this community.

If I was looking for an assisted living facility to go to I would look anywhere else. I would not want my loved one subjected to being bullied by staff or inferior facilities where the Department of Health is called in on a regular basis for failing to meet regulations. Furthermore staff does not care about it's residents only about ensuring that their beds are filled with clients. Bottom line: save yourself the trouble and don't even call..

My aunt is in Queens assisted living. The staff is very personable, very easy to talk to, and easy to get a hold of. The rooms seem OK. She shares a room with another woman. She is not complaining about the food.

This is not a place you would want your loved one to reside in. Very unsafe. Staff does not care about residence at all.
