Glen Arden is top of the line. That's a beautiful facility. The apartments are beautiful. Everything is perfect. It's a little pricey. Obviously, that would be the top one that my relative would pick. If you're going into assisted living, that would be the place to go if you can afford it. Unfortunately, they're so expensive, and that one you have to put a downpayment on. The rooms are like apartments; that's what I like. You either have a nice patio or a little nice terrace and that's important to him. It's like being in a hotel. I like that.
The staff was wonderful also. I didn't have a meal but they have a very formal dining room, which is beautiful. They have a little bistro kinda cafe, which is nice; you can grab a hamburger there. Quite a few people were in there. It seemed like a lot of people seemed to like that. The facility was very clean.

I’m very impressed with Glen Arden as the staff and the residents were very friendly. It’s very well kept and everything , the nursing care apartment and the entire operation, was first class. It had a beautiful setting, about 60 miles from New York City near the very beautiful Hudson River Valley. I had a very pleasant atmosphere, and you can move from one step to the next, from independent, to assisted, and to nursing care.

Glen Arden, Inc was great; even Mom liked it. It had a pool, a really nice eating area, library, and health club. The place was fairly new, and the apartments were a nice size. The staff was great and put on a presentation for us that was very impressive. They were terrific, answered every question, and were very friendly. They served us some cakes and cookies. The place was clean, and the movie room and library were good sizes.

I visited Glen Arden for my mother but she's not open to moving. I just wanted to have this on hand in case she's open to going there. The place is beautiful. It would be a lovely situation for my mother because I feel she would have more of a social life there. My mother is more than legally blind. I feel that she's very isolated in her own home. She only has me or my daughter to stop in to see if she's doing okay. If she lives in an assisted living, I don't know if she's ready for a nursing home yet, but I feel that she'll have more of companionship there. The staff were very nice. The place was very clean and the conditions there are beautiful. It's very expensive but I don't think that's what's stopping my mother. She just has the decision of staying in her own home as long as she can. It's a lovely place, it truly is. When I get to be this age and I need to do something like that, that's where I'm going to go. They have individual apartments depending on the type of assistance that you need. It's a very large facility. They take trips with the most of the seniors. They have a lot for them. I just feel that my mother would fit greatly in that atmosphere.

The facility employed friendly staff and the residents were happy. While each resident had their own apartment, there were nurses on each floor. It was a large community, well kept and cheerful. The location had something to be desired however, as it bordered a highway. On thep lus side it was next door to the hospital in case of emergency.
