I'm not happy with Americare of New York City. It's absolutely terrible. It used to be so nice. They named it twice, now they'll have to rename it. It's absolutely horrible and totally inconsistent. They don't show up. When people show up, it's either there's a language barrier or they're abusive. I can't give any more negative review about the company. We've been using them for four months. It used to be eight hours, now it's four. They come every day, seven days a week. We have a steady one on the weekends, but during the week it's limited. It comes in steady, then they change out, and then they don't show up for a while. They do minor cleaning, they assist with bathing, and they remind my mother her medication. We have to get somebody in there to actually dispense the medication into little dispensers and then the caregivers just remind her basically and give it to her. They don't sort it out or set it up.

My mother left rehab after surgery on June 16, 2016. A physical therapist visited us for the first time on June 26, but only because I called and complained that my mother hadn't received any services other than a nurse who checked vital signs. We won't be receiving PT. I then received a phone call that the company does not have any available occupational therapist and that I will need to choose a new company. They canceled the hospital's (rehab) initial request for a Speech/Language therapist, saying my mother does not need those services (her oncologist referred by her surgeon disagreed). We set up a HHA to come Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 11am but no one showed up for the first day of HHA services until 3pm. I had to ask the HHA numerous questions as to who she even was--- she barely talked or even introduced herself. When I called the company about the change in time, the agents nonchalantly said that the HHA was late and that I could cancel for the day if the time was a problem for me. FOUR HOURS LATE!! It is past seven days so my mother will need a completely new referral to get new services. This company accepted her case knowing it could not provide services. NEVER HIRE THEM!!

They cut my grandmother's homecare services against my wishes instead of recieving 12/12 hour shifts of home care now she gets 24hr services. Now we are at risk of losing the great home attendents that have been with us for years.
