About This Community

The Champlain Valley Senior Community is a new enhanced assisted living & memory care community, offering the only enhanced assisted living license throughout the greater Plattsburgh area.

The Champlain Valley Senior Community's enhanced license enables our staff to administer a higher level of nursing care than a typical assisted living and memory care residence, effectively bridging the gap between traditional assisted living and nursing homes. In many cases, adding enhanced services and increasing care allows an individual to remain in our homelike setting and avoid the nursing home entirely.

The state-of-the-art senior community offers a full range of personalized services including delicious meals, entertainment, social activities, health and wellness programs, regional excursions, medication management, 24-hour assistance, and transportation to area physicians. The senior home features modern amenities fused with the classic charm and special character of its historic building, the former Willsboro School.

We encourage all of our potential residents and their families to visit the community, meet our staff, taste our food and spend as much time as desired in the building. Contact us to learn more about the community or schedule a tour today. All tours scheduled online will be confirmed within 24 hours. We look forward to meeting you and your loved one! Get the lifestyle you want and the care you need.

My mother just passed away at 94 after living at CVSC for the past 14 months. My mother and I were both very pleased with the amazing staff and the high quality of services they provided to me as a family member and to my mother as a resident. CVSC leadership and staff are well trained and dedicated to the happiness and well being of the residents. Of course issues can arise in any such setting but when they do the issues are minor and addressed fully. My mother also received a week of end of life care from Hospice and the team at CBSC. I was welcomed to stay in the room with my mother during that sad week. Not only did the staff support my mothers unique needs around the clock they also Tended to my well being through my mothers final days.

I liked that the residents at Champlain Valley Senior Community could eat at any time. Whether they missed the regularly scheduled meal or not, they could get food at any hour. I liked that they have seating out front so that a resident could go out and sit in the yard and not just be in their room. I felt comfortable that my sister would get the care that she needed there. The staff was very welcoming. The dining area was very clean. Due to COVID restrictions, if I wanted to go eat with my sister there, I wouldn't be able to eat in the dining room, but they have a separate area where you could go and visit and have lunch with your family members. That was nice. They have a salon area, a little chapel area, and a little small library area, too. They would also set up Zoom visits once a week with the family members.

My dad was in his nineties when he became a resident at CVSC. We were hesitant at first due to the relative remoteness of the location. I soon adjusted to the drive living 2 hours to the south of Willsboro and came to look forward to the drive because of the beauty and peacefulness of the area. Dad was there for a period of about one and 1/2 years. He was well cared for by the staff and came to think of them as 'family'. We found everyone to be genuinely kind and caring which made a difficult period a more gentle one. Dad transitioned to the Memory Care as his verbal abilities deteriorated and it was the right move as he enjoyed the increased camradery and social interaction. The amenities are lovely and the whole building is clean and attractive. In my opinion it appeared to be the best available in the north country and we were very happy that they admitted dad.

I was very pleased with this facility when I visited it. They re-furbished the old Willsboro school & it is very pleasant. The employees were very helpful as well. I would be happy placing my Mom here.

Champlain Valley was very nice. I looked at the dementia part of it. I thought it was very well organized that they had trips for the people who are able to leave. Unfortunately, my mother is in the last stages of Alzheimer's, so she wouldn't be obviously able to do that. They showed me an empty room. The nurses all seemed to be very caring; however, this place is too far away.

My mom has been a resident for almost 2 years. I never thought she would leave her home of 80 years, but she loves her new home. It was not easy at first. She went in temporarily for respite care for a few months, and it took a her a while to adjust. When I brought her back home, she couldn't stop raving about how nice everyone was and didn't have one complaint about the place. She asked if she could go back and visit some time. A few weeks later, she moved in permanently. She has made friends, and the staff really seems to care for her, and she loves them, too. I currently live 5 hours away from her and try to visit at least once a month. It's not ideal for me, but I am confident she is being well cared for, which gives me peace of mind. She always seems happy and content when I talk to her and visit her, and the staff keeps me up to date with any medical issues that arise.

My husband and I volunteer on a weekly basis at CVSC. We often come and go throughout the week and so we are graced to see the residents at all different times of the day. Whether they are at excercise, at dinner, being ushered to dr appointments or having a fun activity I see the staff being focused, attentive and compassionate. The food is "excellent" and extends to parties, gatherings and such. I graduated from this faciluty when it was a school and it does my heart good to see it revamped and put to such good use.

This review is long overdue. My mother-in-law entered this facility's dementia area in late May 2014, and she wasn't very happy to leave her home. However within two weeks, she was adjusted, liked her room, loved the food, and soaked up the loving attention she received from the staff in that unit and found new friends. It was convenient for my husband and myself as we live in Willsboro. If there was a concern, we talked with Gary or the nurses or staff, and it was always resolved in a very timely and satisfactory manner. She loved attending the church service that Janice Allen provided every Sunday and was always waiting for her hug at the end of the service. Her placement at this facility provided a special bonding time between mother and son in the last months of her life. We cannot express enough our gratefulness to the staff and for the fact that such a facility is in our community. Medical issues caused her to leave this facility in November. We dearly wish that she had been able to continue to be in their loving care until the end.

This is a rather new facility but it is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and you can decorate as you wish. They have movie nights complete with Popcorn, ice cream socials, live music groups that come about once a week. They have outings, they have been apple picking, pumpkin picking and face painting, they take hikes, shopping expeditions and dinners out. At first my Mom was very reclusive but got over that rather quickly and has made several friends. I have ben to visit a few times and twice Mom has informed me that she is sorry she cannot visit but she is busy doing this or that. At first I was hurt but realise now that she has fitin and started her new life. It is nice to know that she is safe and protected, eating 3 meals a day plus treats which she rally likes. The staff has made her feel right at home and have made me a welcome guest. I have to give them a 5 star review and they deserve it. They really know how to show they care.
