My mother is in Sandstone Spring Valley and it is awful. Upon intake, nothing was done to her for multiple hours. The intake was at 3:30, the CNA got her on the bed and said she'd be right back but didn't come back at all. Every time I pass in the hallway, I saw this girl sitting on her desk with her feet up on the table, looking at her phone. My mother did not receive any vitals or anything. At 7:30 pm, somebody finally brought dinner, and nothing still at 9:00 pm, they hadn't taken her vitals. I got pissed and I had somebody finally come in, do her vitals, and it was a very short intake. They barely glanced at her body for any wounds or condition, and that was the first night. The whole thing has been awful. Pressing your call light, it takes a long time for somebody to get in there, like an hour or two hours. They are there strictly to feed you, medicate you, and hopefully, your therapist will show. God help you if you're bedridden and can't get to the bathroom, you could have an accident on yourself. They've never inquired about my mother's bowels. She'd been there at least five days and had not had a bowel movement in six to seven days, and she was complaining to somebody about her stomach hurting. They proceeded to give her a stool softener, a few hours later they gave her a laxative. My mother wanted a porta-potty, she did not want to defecate a week's worth in a diaper or a bedpan. They refused to get her a porta-potty. I had to drive 30 minutes home to get her own porta-potty, and 30 minutes back to bring a porta-potty so I could have my mother defecate on a stool. It's ridiculous. Their food is terrible, it either comes cold, dry, hard, and very unappetizing. They do not have a proper patient's cup for water, they bring you these tall, tall Styrofoam cups with no lid. They have hardly any supplies. The personnel that worked there, you get good ones that try really hard, but they have too many patients to take care of, it's 128 units there. There, a lot of the rooms are double occupancy. Fortunately, my mother had a single occupancy room but it was at the furthest end of a hallway. The services are terrible, terrible, terrible. They offer a shower twice a week, she received it once a week. I asked for a urinalysis two days ago, because I thought my mother was getting another UTI but they did not do it, even though they said they would put orders in. The facility is clean, it's just huge. It's all about the staff, their lack of having products there, and the food is terrible. The insurance paid for the whole thing.
