Everything is fantastic at Nevada States Veterans Home. Excellent staff. The residents are well taken care of. They've addressed any concerns that we had.

Nevada State Veterans Home was our first choice, but they didn't do chemo patients and it was pricier than the others. My ex-husband didn't have enough money to pay private for the Veterans Home. The rooms were very nice, the food looked good, and they had activities going on while we were touring the facility. There was medical staff available if he needed that. The staff during the tour was very knowledgeable.

We ended up placing my aunt at the Nevada State Veterans Home-Boulder City. It’s quite an adjustment for her, but she’ll be fine. It's not easy going from living independently to going to two people to a room. It’s more like a hospital, but it’s a very highly rated place, and the people are really great, so we feel very comfortable. She complains about everything, but she eats, so the food can’t be that bad. I know they have arts and crafts, bingo, poker, and a lot of community TV watching. They have a beauty salon, a huge podiatry clinic, a great rehab center, an in-house doctor, adequate CNA coverage, and nurses at all times. They have backyard gardens where the patients can grow their own vegetables. They take them places, like to casinos and shopping centers. It’s really full service. That’s where I want to go.

I would highly rate Nevada because they have been very good. My father moved in last April 7. They call me every time they have a problem. My father has balance problems, and they have placed an alarm on his wheelchair to alert them every time he stands. I would recommend them because it’s a good facility.

We visited Nevada State Veterans Home. The staff seemed very friendly and very knowledgeable. They really encourage family. It was very clean. There was no smell, no obvious dirt or anything like that. It was well taken care of. They seemed to put a big emphasis on taking care of the seniors there. They had movie nights, bingo, and outings to various casino properties and restaurants. It had different services available. They had a cafeteria. In each unit, they had separate refrigerators where they had food available for the residents if they were hungry. They had meals. They had places where family could bring in food if you wanted to bring in your own food.

We already placed Dad at Nevada State Veterans Home. This came highly recommended, plus the fact that he is also a veteran. They helped me with my parents. Everybody was just very helpful and wonderful. They are very caring, and everybody I spoke seemed to be happily working. The rooms were basically hospital rooms, but at the state of his situation, that is OK and that is what he needs. Overall, it's a good place to be, and I am very pleased with the facility.
