About This Community
La Vida Llena means "the full life." Four local churches saw a need for a retirement community that could provide an independent, active lifestyle, with customized levels of care to meet residents' needs through life's aging process.
Part of the full life is having easy access to a wide variety of senior living options: activities, services, and choices. Instead of driving all over town between the bank, hair salon or wellness class, now you've got time to read another chapter or work on your putting stroke. Rather than spending the morning tending the lawn, you can finally try your hand at ceramics, volunteer at a local museum, make toys for young children or swim some laps at the pool.
Amenities and Services include:
- Heated, indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi
- Well-equipped fitness center, with personalized exercise and wellness programs
- Carving
- Studios and workshops for artists and hobbyists including a ceramics studio, an art room, a fiber arts room with a weaving loom, a unique model railroad room and workshop
- Events, trips, courses, concerts, and get-togethers—all arranged by full-time activities coordinators
- Scheduled transportation service
- Complete maintenance and grounds keeping services
- Emergency call system and 24-hour courtesy patrol
- Bank
- Hair salon
- Card room
- Resident garden area
- Putting green
- Sculpture garden
- Library
- General store
We invite you to our warm, welcoming community!

La Vida Llena had the best outdoor space out of all the places I visited. They had two lovely pools where they could do water aerobics. They would start as independent and then assisted living. Then if you have dementia of any kind, they have assistance for that. They even have a medical unit with nursing staff if you need to be with health care every day. So, they have all levels there.
It's an expensive facility and it's large, but if you run out of funds, they have some kind of program to help you meet the difference. The person who took us was someone they called an ambassador. She lives there and she takes visitors around, which is a very nice idea. She even showed us her own apartment and everything. She's very generous with her time. The food was OK. It was very varied.

By far the largest number of residents at LaVidaLlena are in the Independent Living areas, so it is a very active community. My husband and I moved here in 2015, both fully mobile but seeking a place where we knew we would be taken care of should we need assistance. He died three years ago without ever staying in any of our care units, but we did have help from several nurses and aids right in our apartment during his final illness. They were unfailingly cheerful, competent and professional. For the past year during Covid-19, when we were sheltering for everyone's safety, our Life Enrichment Department went to work immediately designing exercise, lectures and other programs on our in-house TV station and online to keep us sane and happy. Normally there is an abundance of lectures, classes, day trips, exercise classes, chances to attend Popejoy Hall events, too many activities to list. Walking among our beautiful grounds is a favorite pastime which was never curtailed. We are all looking forward to the day soon when the life we knew before 2020 resumes here. Our newly remodeled Health Care Center with private suites looks fabulous, and the new Assisted Living/Memory Care building does as well. There are 40 new, upscale apartments going up in the new 6000 building on north campus, with both these new buildings nearing completion, so the excitement about them is growing. The future looks very bright at La Vida Llena, and I am so happy to live here!

This is a beautiful place with caring staff. There are a lot of activities and it is well-run. The amenities are top-notch - I highly recommend La Vida Lllena!

La Vida Llena probably have the best amenities compared to any other place, like a gym, and lots of activities. They do have a fairly large buy-in, they do mention that upfront, and it covers your rent after you run out of money. The rooms were about the same size as other places I have been to. They also told me about the activities that they have. The staff is friendly and the building is fairly up-to-date and modern.

We have friends in La Vida Llena. It's very nice. My friends are very happy there. The wife has developed memory issues but she is well taken care of. She is very happy about that. One time they invited us to have dinner with them, and the food was pretty good. They have different restaurants, so you could pick anything you want. I think it is very good because if you have only one place to eat, no matter how good the chef is, you're going to be tired of the food repeating and repeating. I saw the schedule and the whole week is full of activities.

La Vida Llena is very clean and nice looking with nice grounds. I have a friend who's there who I visit her often. They have independent living, assisted living, and a nursing home. If a person runs out of money for the monthly fees, and they're very old or very sick, they will keep them there until they pass away, so they continue to have same amount and quality of care. My friend who's legally blind taught pottery and painting there. The food is tasty and perfectly adequate. The monthly fees are fair.

We visited La Vida Llena and stayed for 3 nights as their guests. They treated us very wonderfully. They were excellent, wonderful hospitality. The place is extremely expensive but wonderful. All the staff we met were extremely friendly, hospitable, and welcomed us with open arms. If they lower their price to about $300,000, we would be interested. Their food was excellent.

La Vida Llena was very nice, and it looked like I could afford to be there. I was very happy when I figured that out, so I didn’t look any further.

We looked at La Vida Llena. It's a life care community, so you must enter healthy and able to care for yourself, and when you can no longer do that, they move you to assisted living or nursing home. The staff was wonderful. Their dining room was lovely. They have a broad range of activities.

La Vida Llena is lovely but you have to buy into it, and they offer all the activities. It’s like a really nice fine hotel; you have a tablecloth and a menu.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and assisted us in almost every way imaginable. The facilities were average, with no obvious signs of negligence with respect to upkeep. The residents seemed well taken care of, as well as happy, for being in a nursing home. Nursing home food has always been a reservation of mine, but at these facilities it was above average, and actually tasted like food. My greandmother seemed to be quite happy with the place, until we got to the room, they are a bit on the small side, but still plenty liveable. There is a bed and chairs and tables like you would expect, but nothing is over the top or out of place. So although La Vida Llena is a beautiful campus, with good food and relatively nice rooms, I think I will find somewhere else for my grandmother, who is picky as all get out.
