The Pines at Whiting has very good grounds outside. A lot of pine trees are around. There are trails that residents can walk through the woods and not just around the buildings themselves. The staff is very friendly and informative. If you ask a question, you feel like you're getting a straight answer. There's a small shopping plaza, drugstores, big supermarkets, and all kinds of medical support items like major hospitals in the area. The facility is located in a very central place in New Jersey. The Pines is affiliated with another place that's adjacent to it. The other place has a swimming pool, and residents of The Pines can use it.

The Pines at Whiting was very nice, and we really liked it. It seemed well managed and very clean. The rooms were medium sized. The people seemed to be happy. The dining area was nice.

I ate at the Pines, and the food was good. The atmosphere was better compared to the other places I’ve visited. The halls were wider and brighter, and had more lights in there, so it wasn’t as dim. They were playing cards, and there was a lot going on; they were very active. The rooms actually had patios at the back, which were nice. The staff was very accommodating.

We found a place for my parents called The Pines. They're going to be moving in a couple of weeks. The people were very accommodating. They showed us around. They were nice to my parents. There were older men there too, and because my father doesn't want to be held up with nothing but women, I was happy to see that. It was important to my father and I. The food was good. It wasn't like going to a great restaurant, but my father and mother liked it, and I liked it. The rooms/apartments looked clean and roomy enough. They looked inviting too. Once my parents are there, they are encouraged to get up and out, which is good because I don't want them to be shut in their room. It seems as though there is an invitation to leave the room and have breakfast or lunch downstairs among the other people, and that seems to be really good.

I visited the Pines at Whiting, and it's absolutely gorgeous, but they don’t take outside insurance. They only take specific insurance or self-pay. Everybody was wonderful. It's clean; it's a really beautiful facility. Their rooms are like hotel rooms. When we went there, they were having bingo. The cleanliness and newness of the place did stand out for me.

I like The Pines. It's very nice. I have friends who live there, both in independent and in the nursing home, and it's fine. The people I know who live there like it. The sanitation seems to be fine to me. I live in the area. They have a lot of activities. I know my friend who lives there does a lot; she keeps very busy. I went there a couple of times for picnics. It's a good place to be if you can afford it.

Upon entering the facility it was nice, open, and airy. The staff greeted us with a smile. There were many amenities including fitness classes, restaurant like dining, different game nights where everyone gets together, and everyone seemed very close, both staff and residents. Every day there was a different menu in the different restaurant sections. The residents could pick anything they wanted, from appetizer to dessert. They could also choose to eat in or take out. They organize movie nights a few times a week. They even had art classes, bingo, drama club, live bands, Wii bowling, etc. Even though this is an assisted living facility, everyone has their own freedom. Family could come and stay a night, grandchildren are welcomed. Everything was secure and clean. Whether you like to relax and have quiet time or be the life of the party, you can choose. It seemed like a great and fun atmosphere for any retiree.
