We chose Shady Lane because it is a nursing home and for the kind of care that my grandmother needed, that was a top priority for us. Also the location was within 5 miles from my home, so it ended up working out for us. My grandmother did well there. She did very well. It was close to her, so knowing that the staff there was local, she did know some people there. They were the staff who knew her from growing up, so it made it a lot easier for her. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with it. They do so many activities with them all the time, all day long. They make sure no matter they would pull her out of her room and say, "you're coming." They have a singer come in a couple of times a week. They take her down to the salon; they get her hair and nail done. They make it as comfortable and as homey as possible. It works out for my grandmother; they are really, really good.
