Allendale Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is old and dated, but that's the least of it. I can live with that. It's not clean. My mother's tray top has not been cleaned in days. The bottom of the tray, the metal part that holds it, is filthy and corroded. The bathrooms are worn and not nice to look at. On the first day, my mother had a room that fit three people. At one point, there was another woman there who passed during the night, and my mother knew it, and she knew the woman wasn't moving, but they didn't realize it until noon. Like everywhere else, after COVID, they're short-staffed there. Everybody on the floor is moaning, and I'm sure they're in pain. Just now, my mother had put on her blinkers so that they would remove her food tray from lunch. And they came in and said, 'Your light has been on for three hours. What can I do for you?' Well, why didn't you come two and a half hours ago? And we almost forgot why we put the light on, and it was so that they removed her food tray. I had to call about four days into her first week and begged them to shower my mother. They hadn't showered or washed her down yet. My mother was going from the hospital into rehab, and we were forced to take a place that had a bed. If I had a choice, this would not have been on my list. The staff is nice, personality-wise. However, they have not once brought the food that she ordered. Activities have been coming in twice a day for 30 minutes. This all goes to Medicare, but I don't know what we're paying. But I'm sure it's too much because the place is not nice.
