The room my mom was in at first was ok but as a former housekeeping staff member at the Veterans affairs hospital i can tell you it is below industry standards especially the floors very dull and needs polishing. They woke my mom up at 10pm and told her that they were moving her to the long term treatment side on orders from the big boss. The room she is in is a one person room which they have have converted into a two person room which has made the room very small and cramped two twin beds cramped into a very tiny and space no room for either patient to have more than one visitor unless they go to the day which is very filthy tables always need cleaning chairs and tables need to be changed as they are old and outdated floor is dirty needs to be scrubbed and waxed no air conditioning on one day i visited it was 88 outside the dayroom temp had to be at least 90 Patients were both suffering the effects from the heat no ventilation at all patients state there was a large fan present but they don't know what happened to it. Nursing staff was nonchalant non responsive to complaints about this issue as they just sat at computer station fixated on their personal cell phones. Interactions with RN Nursing staff is horrible they are very slow reacting to any issue that needs to be addressed and their number one go to excuse is that we are short staff. food is horrible i would not feed it to my pet. Their is no communication between dietician staff and patient. only community event i have seen was recreation therapy she was very nice caring and concerned and engaged with the patients. At this point i would not recommend this place to anyone seekng care for their loved one.

My parents have moved into Complete Care at Cedar Grove. I don't love the community, but it was just easier to put them all together. I absolutely would not recommend it. I'm screaming at them, cracking skulls every day, and they do it. But I just feel awful for all the people there that don't have somebody like me advocating for them. They've got two aides for 56 patients. How did two people take care of 56 patients? The physical appearance of the community kind of looks like what you'd see in a horror movie about a nursing home or a mental institution. It's a little bit scary. They don't clean it often enough. There's usually a pretty putrid smell of dirty diapers permeating the hallways. They're supposed to be renovating it, but they've been saying that for two years. There are a couple of nice rooms, but the vast majority are subpar. They lack a lot of basic materials. For example, if someone has an accident, they kind of have to sit in their own squalor for many hours a day. Those are some of the things in terms of the physical place. I've had some of my parent's food, and over the past couple of months, they've changed the menu to try to save some money. So, the food's not very good. It's not very healthy. It's sort of generic cafeteria food. There's more pasta, more rice, and there's like a spoonful of protein. Some staff members are wonderful, and others that don't care at all. Given the fact that everybody's overworked because they don't want to pay for enough people. I can't blame the health care aides when they have to care for 56 patients. How are you going to be excited about your job when you're overworked and underpaid? But there are some staff members who are great, and some that just don't care at all. It's like a little bit of a mixed bag. The food is a small portion, with very little protein. There's not much that's healthy about it. It's pretty awful. The whole place smells like a dirty diaper. In terms of value for money, I would give a zero. For my mom and my dad, I'm paying $30,000 a month. So, whatever is the lowest mark, I give the lowest mark for value.

There are a few aides, medical staff members and recreation workers in the Dementia Unit who are exceptionally loving, committed and effective. However, their work is sabotaged by Genesis' inability to hire other decent staff due to poor scheduling, planning, training and an abysmal lack of supplies. While at Waterview, we would not let a day go by without visiting our loved one. We are heartbroken for the residents who don't have advocates. We are angry at the administration who allows the most fragile of our society to be exposed to such pain at this sad point of their lives.

Terrible place. Not clean, etc. Don't let a loved one go there, especially if they can't talk for themselves.

If you have a loved one with any type of Dimentia, look elsewhere for a nursing facility. My mother was there for 2 1/2 years and her daily staff was great. She received good care from her regular aids and I too grew very fond of them. However, the day room is understaffed resulting in residents being neglected. Administration does nothing about that. Good staffers are leaving every day. And administration does not understand what is needed when caring for dementia patients. This sickness has various phases and the patient goes through various moods. Every day is different and you must take one day at a time. BUT the administration does not want to deal with it... nor do they care. They will kick you out just so it does not become their problem. Their social worker is very condescending and is purely a "yes" man to the higher ups. it is a disgrace that our elders are treated with such disrespect.

My grandfather stays at Waterview Center. He had a bed, a blanket, and a pillow. They would clean his room every morning and every night before he went to sleep. Everybody is kind to him, and they treat him really good and nicely. The only problem is we ask them several times to bathe him because he would spit up a lot. We went everyday, and they told us that they do it, but he would always be dirty when we went to see him.

My mother suffered from end stages of Alzheimer's and received excellent care at this facility. Staff always was availabley to speak with and always answered questions promptly that I had.

I visited this facility often to see a relative. The staff was pleasant and inside was set up nicely. I do however feel like they have a lack of communication between staff and resident care managers. I had an assigned list of permitted guests to be allowed to visit my relative and one day i visited and was advised another relative who was not on the listed was permitted to take my resident in care from the facility without providing a destination. I found that if they had better communication methods that this incident would not occur, my resident in care is not in the best of health and does not remember things often and could have been in danger with the person they allowed to sign him out of the facility. Sometimes friendliness isn't all that matters. Attention to detail and communication would be important and most certainly in their best interest to uptrain all staff in paying attention to what is on file and requests that are made in writing by the primary care agent for the members who reside at the facility. I had to remove my relative from the facility in fear that the unlisted person would visit and use my relative for personal gain.
