We toured Heritage of Clara Barton. Brianna was very helpful and very thorough. She explained everything and showed us almost every part of the building. She was very nice. It was a huge building and very clean. It is going through some renovations because it is an older building, but it was very well taken care of. The dining area was renovated, and it was huge. It was a really big room and very clean. Every table was set beautifully. I couldn't believe the chandeliers. They had such beautiful chandeliers in the dining room. They were really, really big and beautiful with crystals and everything. It was a very nice looking place. They have a calendar up on the wall. Throughout the day, they have all kinds of stuff like crafts and movies. They keep the residents occupied with all kinds of activities. The third floor was not done yet. They are still renovating, putting in new floors, and renovating the rooms. The rooms that we saw were very spacious. They have different floor plans available. They have a studio. They have several one bedrooms, and some are bigger than the others. It was like you step into your own apartment. We weren't able to try the food. She showed us a menu. The menu looked really good, and it smelled good in there.

Heritage of Clara Barton seemed a little old, and it looked like they're updating it. There were not very many outdoor spaces except for the front. There wasn't a lot of green space. The staff was nice. The rooms were OK, but they seemed a little old and a little sad. Upkeep and maintenance looked OK. They had food choices and the dining area was nice, but there were no windows. They had card games, movies, and some outings.

We like Heritage of Clara Barton. We like the physical facility itself. It was bright, it was really clean, and it was inviting. It was very warm when you walked in. A lot of places are dark and dreary, and they were very bright. Even the hallways where we went to and see the actual rooms looked more like a hotel. It was very nice. They have like apartments where two patients are sharing the apartment. It could be two patients sharing a galley kitchen and a bathroom. They were good sizes. They had good closet space. It was clean and bright. The staff was very friendly and very nice. As we walked the facility, people spoke to you. We had an opportunity to meet the chef, too. The residents seemed happy. It was very lively. The residents were out and about, and they were doing things. The person we walked with knew the name of every person that we passed, so they seem to be caring. We saw the dining area and the recreation area. We saw the outside spaces where residents could go sit outside or go for a walk. They did not serve us a meal, but we were able to go into the dining room while residents were eating. The food looked and smelled good. That was the first place we visited and after visiting there, we didn't want to visit any other places.

I've toured Heritage of Clara Barton but the price was a bit out of our range. The place was nice, but we were looking for something that has more activities as part of the community, and we didn't see a lot of that stuff. The staff that we met were flexible, they were nice and willing to work with our hectic schedule. Some of the stuff there looked very old, but overall it looked fine and it's doing the job. The upkeep of the place was very good. It's located where the hospital isn't too far away and there's a Costco around.

Heritage of Clara Barton was a nice assisted living facility. I went up there with my friend who had worked in assisted living in Brick. She dealt with memory care individuals. We went through the facility and she gave it a positive review. I had mentioned about so many of the people kind of sitting around not being active and she said at least they're outside. At least they're with other people and if they choose to converse, if they choose to watch TV, or if they choose to get involved in a game, they have that opportunity to do so. I think it was good. They were rehabbing the facility quite a bit but it still looked like it was a nice facility. I could see what they were doing and how they were doing things. The individual rooms were very large. We went into a shared two-bedroom which I think was a good size. This was an old school that had been rehabbed so the ceilings were exceptionally tall like they were 10 or 12 feet tall. The singular room was very large, very pleasant, and very nice. The hallways were not quite as wide as the other one we saw, but they were still wide enough that you could certainly walk 2 wheelchairs down next to each other without having one of them stop while the other one would go by. The restaurant area was very large. I don't think it was quite as nice perhaps as the one we visited in Freehold, but it was still a very pleasant area. The downstairs had a real personality to it. They had an aviary area with birds in it and it was very pleasant. The only thing I would say is that the woman that gave us the tour, who was very good, was only there temporarily. They were hiring a new person for that position. The woman who gave us the tour perhaps wasn't as knowledgeable, but I think we were asking more pointed questions to her too because my aunt was not there at that time and it was the first assisted living that I had gone to so I wanted more detail. She was able to give it to me and said to call back to get the rest of the information that I want to get because she just didn't have them available at the moment. All in all, it's a very nice facility. We did not have the opportunity to have any lunch or anything there, but they did have a little area that was their cafe area and there were quite a few people in there. It was just heading towards lunchtime so some people were just straggling in for lunch. It looked like a nice facility to me.

Heritage of Clara Barton was a clean, beautifully decorated, and attractive facility. The staff members were very kind and good people to have around you if you need them. On the downside, it was a much more restricted life than we are currently living, and it may be necessary if one needs a lot of help in one's living accommodation. But for us, it would be a big, big downsize in our lifestyle, and we wouldn't want to make it, and we're forced to. The staff did a fabulous job. Their dining room was very attractive. The facility was clean, modern, well kept, in good condition, and most importantly, no smells. To be honest, it was pretty institutional. I don't think that's avoidable. I looked at their monthly planner showing the daily activity, and it was very impressive. I mean, all sorts of things are going on. They have physical activities for those capable of it. They have games and bingo. And that was a big plus.

I visited the Heritage of Clara Barton. The tour was fine, but it was more people who were moved in with assisted living. So, they had the freedom to come and go, their cars were there. I don't know why they would want to stay there for that cost of money, but whatever, because they seemed to be pretty much fine. It just didn't feel warm. They charged you for doing your laundry. They charge you for a few things. The rooms were not as nice as the others. It just didn't seem warm; it seemed too business. Maybe that was because the seniors who live there could move around and travel, get in their car and go out to the stores. It was more like a busy place. They resided on the first floor. The other people would reside on the second floor. I think it was great for the seniors who could move around but it didn't feel good for me. It was too fast-moving for my sister-in-law. She had to come down to sit in the dining room, and all these people moving around; it just wasn't perfect. The maintenance and cleanliness seemed fine. We were only there for like tops, an hour. I don't think the improvement is there; I just think that's just the way it is, where the mobile people can move around and do things and do what they want to do. They separate them, but the other one just seems warmer.

We toured Heritage of Clara Barton for my parents. The community was fine. It's basically an old school that they had renovated. The place seemed to be fine; I would say that it was average. The staff was very good and very nice. They were fine and helpful. That's the only facility that we had to take a rapid COVID test in order to walk in. They have a lot more restrictions for people visiting than the other ones do. You have to make an appointment and you can only have a 20-minute visitation time, which I think is ridiculous. If my parents were on the second floor, it would take me 20 minutes to get up there. The rooms were small, but they were well-maintained. The dining area was very big and very well presented. Besides the front of the building, I did not see any outdoor spaces.

I didn't like Heritage of Clara Barton as much as the other 2 places I toured because it felt very cold. It didn't have the warmth and it was like walking into a hospital or a school building. That's how it felt to me. The person that took me on the tour was very friendly. It didn't seem to be as exposed to as much in terms of activities and I didn't see a calendar whereas other places gave me their calendar of activities. I do know they have an activities space. I was kind of hoping that that would be a place that I would be comfortable in, but it just reminded me of going to school. That place is near restaurants and a hospital is not too far away.

My mom has been a resident at Clara Barton for two and a half great years. She was happy, busy, and content before COVID and she continues to be today. This is mostly due to the outstanding staff at Clara Barton. They have kept strict rules about keeping residents safe while allowing them to have wonderful activities indoor and out! They have made every effort to keep the residents moving and engaged under these difficult circumstances. I have always been very pleased with my mom’s life here and I greatly appreciate all that the entire staff does to keep Clara Barton a happy, busy and safe place for all of their residents.

Jyll, Christine and the entire staff at Heritage is the best you can find! They have kept their residents safe during the pandemic and have communicated with the families to keep them updated on the changing statuses. My father has lived in Assisted Living for a number of years and we could not be happier with the care and attention he has received. I am so thankful that Jyll has taken the necessary steps to keep her residents safe, even when those choices may not be popular. My father is a happy and healthy 90 year old, thanks to the care he has received at Heritage. Keep up the good work!!!

The rooms are big open and easily managed with a rolling walker. Also the room is not claustrophobic!! The staff is very nice and have done a good job given the circumstances.

I looked at Heritage of Clara Barton. The room was big with a kitchen and a bathroom. It had everything. The cafeteria was huge with good food. They have a little room that has a TV, they got books to read, they have some arts and crafts, they play bingo, and they play cards. It is a nice place. I could go out and walk around. The staff was a nice person. I never tasted the food but I saw people enjoying their food. The place was nice and clean. They had like a gift shop, too.

I visited Heritage of Clara Barton, and my impression of them is outstanding. The nurses came out to see my brother today and I'm hoping we can get him over there. They have a theater, the residents were playing bingo one time, they have trips organized to go to different places. They go to Target, to church or they go to a casino once a month. They have a lot of different choices for food, and supposedly they have a really good chef. Everyone there seems happy, and they allow pets. The lobby is huge and very nice, with a fireplace. They have beautiful open area in the lobby, it goes to the second and third floor because it was an old school originally. It's very nice.

I had a positive impression of Heritage of Clara Barton. They had very helpful and friendly staff. The facility itself was nice, and the common areas were well-utilized. The food service seemed high quality, and the residents themselves seemed friendly. The rooms seemed like a good workable and adequate space for a single person.

Overall, the facility is better than most; I have had family members living there for approximately 4 years. They attend to their residents and do the best they can to keep them healthy and occupied. My family member, though easily depressed, believes the staff treats her well and with respect. I haven't observed anything to suggest otherwise. Her only complaints are with the cuisine; she said that it seems that the chefs frequently take the "leftovers" that don't get served throughout the week and make a casserole with them that's served on Fridays. She's described to me some of these casseroles in detail; they do not sound appetizing. There was one particular incident during December 2011 that I believe that they handled poorly. My family member received word shortly before Christmas that the facility suddenly canceled a family holiday party for the residents due to a "tragic death" at the facility. Our family member reported to us that the facility was crawling with law enforcement on the date that they received this announcement. For days, the facility would not release any information about the death to family or residents; while I realize that there are privacy concerns to take into account, it left us (and our family member resident) wondering whether someone had entered the facility and committed a crime or a staff member had committed a crime. We were concerned about everyone's safety, and it was just a few days before Christmas. It turned out that an elderly resident had killed his wife and himself with a gun and had been discovered several hours after it happened; that raised additional questions about why the resident had a firearm and how no staff members had heard a gunshot.
