Hello,
My mother Violet D. was a resident there for about 1.5 years. I was fortunate enough to live local so pre-Covid stopped in several times a week to visit with her. She was an alzheimer's patient so she was unable to speak up for herself if anything was not up to par with her care but I never saw anything concerning. She was always clean and dressed when I arrived. She participated in the activities -she seemed very happy given the circumstances. During COVID we had weekly update calls which helped with the frustration of not being able to see her. Barbara was fantastic with keeping her involved with everything. They did allow me to be by her side when she passed in 2020 which I was very grateful for as I would have been more devastated if she had passed alone. They are short staffed and it does take time to get a response from a nurse - but this is the industry now. One person can only do so much and I watched the nurses run ragged with requests. They are doing (and did in my case) the best they can with what they have for staff. The patio they have for residents to visit with family/friends as well as just to get outside is very inviting and a great change in atmosphere from being inside the facility. My mother was in another facility before I moved her to the Elms and I found the Elms superior due to size and care.

I'm in a nursing home in Milford called The Elms Care and Rehabilitation Center. It's long-term care. It's good, but sometimes they are very shorthanded with the nurses and the LNAs. Sometimes when you use the call bell, it takes them a long time, like 20 minutes to half an hour. We're now eating in the dining room. Since the COVID, we were in our rooms having our meals. What I like the least is the bathroom is dirty. Sometimes, the meat is tough; you can hardly cut it. Our activities are going outside on our patio, and I like making puzzles, and I like reading. Sometimes, they make a schedule of activities, but then they change it because something else is going on.

This pandemic made it very hard to know what goes on behind the doors trying to get information is almost impossible on weekends because they don't answer the phone and when they do they act like you're bothering them. I could go on forever but what I will tell you is Barbara in activities and Mackenzie are the only two that actually advocated for my mom. So I suggest if you have a loved one there get a portal because it became our eyes and ears to see what really goes on there. It's too late for our mom but we did get her out of there so she could be hugged, kissed, loved and respected as she deserved.

The Elms Care and Rehabilitation Center was great to my grandfather, myself and the rest of my family. The staff made everybody feel really comfortable, even with my grandfather being very tough to deal with at that point. He was there for a few weeks after he received treatment at the hospital for lung cancer. Sadly, he went home and received hospice care after and passed away shortly after. The staff at the assisted living facility was very wonderful to all of us.

while this small facility boasts personalized care their actual care leaves something to be desired. resident call bells are not answered in a timely fashion due to short staffing. this results in skin break down, falls, and medical emergencies. many of the nursing staff are inexperienced and under qualified to work in this facilities very acute, fast-paced setting.
