I really liked Ledgewood Bay at Milford. They had a lot of activities, but this was before COVID. It's very nice. There's a library, they show movies, and they have a game room. The staff was very professional. I saw one of the rooms and it was shared. They have a shuttlebus to go shopping. I liked it. It was clean, and the people were very friendly. The food was good. It was like gourmet. They were small portions.

I'm staying at Ledgewood Bay in Milford right now. The staff is great. I'm in a studio apartment, which I enjoy, and the food has been very good; most meals are good.
The surroundings are very nice, there are lovely views here, and it's up on a hill, so we have views of the Monadnock Range.
Activities have been great. We don't have much right now, but we've had movies, crafts, painting, a book group, there was a riding group, exercise, and a walking group.
I love my room, it's very adequate. Also, the facility itself is a very secure building. My main concern is it's too expensive, that's the biggest reason why I'm moving.

Ledgewood Bay at Milford is a nice facility. The staff has been very good. Mom has a nice apartment. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room kitchenette area. It's got nice big windows, so there's a lot of light. The food is very good. The dining area and its staff are very nice. There's a lot of windows and a lot of light in the dining area. They have a beauty shop, physical therapy on-site, and a van for taking residents on outings. They have a pretty full calendar of activities. The staff has been very attentive. It's expensive, but there's a lot more space in terms of the size of the apartments.

I found a Ledgewood Bay for my dad and he already moved in last Saturday. He chose one of their studio apartments, and so far, so good. He's been happy with it so far. He claimed the food's good, and a nurse comes in once a day to give him his medication, and check on him. There are plenty of activities for him to do.

Ledgewood was very nice. The assisted living apartment was very nice in particular. The dementia unit was good. They had a nursing staff that I like 24/7 that would be there. The apartments were clean and spacious. The rooms were very nice. The downside of it is it was very pricey.

Right now, mom is in Ledgewood Bay. It’s an awesome place; I would go there. The people are friendly and happy; all the staff is wonderful. The place is clean. They take the people out to different places, and they have a lot of activities all the time. They have people come in to entertain. The food was OK, but it was a barbecue day and a family outing thing, so hamburgers and hotdogs-type thing.

I liked everything about Ledgewood Bay. I went there for lunch with a friend of mine. The lunch was very good as were the rooms. I thought the people I sat with were intelligent. The lady who worked there did a great job of showing me the whole place. It was clean, and I couldn’t ask for a better experience.

We went through Ledgewood Bay, and the lady that we talked to was very good. She showed us everything, and she was very pleasant to us. It looked like a good place to go. They varied in price depending on what you would get -- a studio, a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom. We found it to be very nice. They gave us the information. The room that we looked us was basically an L-shaped room with a space for a bed, a dresser, a couple of chairs, and a lounge chair. You could have your meals down at the dining room. There were two servings.
They had a library. The room that we looked at was kind of small for visitors and things, but they had other places where you could take your visitors, sit at a table, and entertain them. They had games and something new. Almost every hour, there was something going on throughout the week to keep you busy.
One thing about Ledgewood was that they accept Medicaid or Medicare. So, when you went out of funds, you don't have to go into a nursing facility; you could still be there and would not have to leave premises. We were satisfied with what we saw. Everything was laid out for walkers. The apartments were laid out so you could walk around with the walker. All of the aisles and things like that had rooms for the walker. They had seats scattered around, so if you got tired, you could sit down. It was made for the comfort of the people who were there. Everybody was very nice. The people that we met -- not just the people that worked there, but the residents -- were very nice too.

We decided that assisted care is not what we are ready for at all. We don't want to move into a situation like that yet; we are not at that point. Simply put, we are much more independent and much less needy than that, so we decided that Ledgewood is not where we want to be at this point in time.
Everything was very nice. Everybody was very helpful and informative, and we felt cared for and all that, but we just didn't feel like this is something we were into at this time in our life. We wanted to find a place where we didn't have to put out a lot of money upfront because we didn't know whether or not that would make any sense, and it seemed like the monthly payments were very high. We found out that anything you needed beyond basic food and shelter, you had to pay for it individually, and it was very expensive. The whole thing was that you might save money by not paying upfront for a room in the sense of a lease of some kind, but you had to pay extraordinary amounts of money for every little thing you needed as time went along. It actually wasn't a good fit at all. We didn't want to be put in that position.
They are not doing anything wrong, they answered our questions fully, and they were clear about how much everything costs, but we were kind of shocked. We felt like if you are dependent and needy because you have physical problems, you don't want to be put in a position where every single thing you might need costs so much that you can't afford it all the time. If we were there in the sense of needing that kind of help, we might give them a very different rating, but because we are more independent and really looking now for a single family home, we would rate them differently because they didn't fit our needs.

I thought Ledgewood Bay was very nice because it was up high. You couldn't hear traffic, and it was quiet. It is really nice, and it was just five miles from my house which made the real decision. It was a very large studio apartment. I was amazed that we got her two dressers, her bed, a recliner, a chair, a coffee table, and a small refrigerator in there. It was big, so it worked out well. I like the fact that they don't use a lot of salt. My mother is not crazy about it, but I thought it was OK.

Ledgewood Bay is a very nice community. It's more homey rather than institutional. The staff is very attentive to the residents and the interaction with the residents and the staff is very supportive. The rooms are nice and the food is good, too.

Ledgewood Manor is one of the better assisted living facilities I have been involved with. My grandfather is currently a patient there, receiving physical rehabilitation. Their physical therapy staff appears to be very young but once observed working with patients, it became clear that they are not only young but also bright, ambitious and very well trained in the care they are providing. They also take the time to actually interact with their patients, ask how they are, listen to their concerns and limits, etc. I have been very pleased with the level of clinical care he has received. One common complaint during his stays at other facilities was that not much attention was paid when he rang his call bell...at Ledgewood someone comes within one minute every time he calls. He is also pleased with the recreational activities offered, cleanliness of his room and general facilities and even says that he enjoys the food. The patients are given many menu options based on what they are allowed to have per their medical status and he always enjoys his meals.
