My mother will be moving into Madison House. The staff was very helpful and very personable, and she wanted to know my mom's name right away, her hobbies, and the things that she enjoyed doing. She made sure to point things out on the tour that my mom would enjoy and she answered all our questions. I thought she did a nice job.
I felt the room was adequate. My mom's moving from a house she's lived in for 55 years, so it'll never be the same, but I thought it's good for what she needs, to be able to just walk into a shower without taking a step. She did not want a stove or oven because she didn't want to do any cooking, so that's not there. She wanted a separate bedroom as opposed to just a studio, and they had that available, so I thought it was just right for her.
They have a studio and an extended studio and then a one-bedroom. They have games, puzzles, and a library, and they take them to different activities, depending on what's going on around town. Also, they can get up to five rides a month for doctors' appointments.

The whole establishment of Madison House was clean. It's a smaller community, so that was a good one. They got a smaller dining room, smaller community area, and then they showed me a studio room. There was plenty of room for my uncle to live there. Christy was very helpful in answering everything, and so I had a good tour experience.
When you look out the window in the summertime, they have some walkways where you can go and walk around amongst the four inner squares of the building. You'd be able to get outside, but you'd still be confined there, which was nice. After we toured that, she emailed me and even sent a little video thanking me for coming there, and if there's anything she can do, she's willing to help no matter if we decide to go there or someplace else.

Madison House Norfolk is very good. The outside is nice and clean, and the staff members that I have interacted with have been really good. When I ask them to do something for my mom they do it. They have taken all the precautions needed for COVID, and I think they have done a wonderful job. I know that my mother is really happy with the food. The activities are limited because of COVID, like they can't bring in a minister to do services yet.
