Avamere at Lexington was very nice. We toured the assisted living and the independent living. Basically, the rooms were large, and they provide the normal services. The room in the assisted living seemed more like a single room or a studio; it didn't have a separate bedroom. The apartments in the independent living were nice, and some of them even had two bedrooms. The duplexes were like two-bedrooms with a living room and a dining room in the middle, and then a bedroom on each side. The next one had a bedroom, a dining room, and a kitchen, and then another bedroom. The staff was very good.

We put mom in Emeritus at Park Avenue Estates. It seems OK to me, but she doesn't take much of the food there. They can improve on it. It's quite big. They're all nice to her, they treat her Ok, and they do whatever you need.

No one in my family, least of all my grandfather, was happy about his move into assisted living. The staff at Park Avenue were good and kind and helpful during the transition, and did everything possible to include the rest of the family. There are plenty of fun and varied activities for the residents to participate in, and the facility is clean and comfortable. Each year for Grandpa's birthday, the facility hosts a big party for him and the whole family and other community members attend. It's really nice, and Grandpa is pretty happy there now.
