My friend moved into Brookdale Rocky Mount. I liked the security of the place. The staff has been very good. They're very attentive to the residents. My friend's room has everything that he needs in it, and it's very cozy. It's large enough to really make him not feel shut in. The cook and the staff in the dining room are very friendly. The atmosphere is very good. It feels like home. He is adjusting well there. They have a bus that takes them out and they are not shut in all the time. They have physical exercises.

My grandmother is in Brookdale Rocky Mount. It's not always been my favorite nursing home in town. It has that nursing home smell when you walk in. She has a kitchenette, a separate living and sleeping area, and a private bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's very accessible. She doesn't have a big suite. She has the standard-sized one. I have not tried the food, but my mom said the trays they bring her have very good-looking food and everything looks fresh. They're always doing something.
If they didn't have that old people nursing home smell, it's a nice facility. They have little outdoor courtyards and I think they have a bunny outside. They've got lots of nice sitting areas and it's very nicely decorated. They've got a wall for veterans and everything. It's very pretty. I can see that they put the residents money to good use. The staff I've had to interact with and my parents have had to deal with were a little slow to answer call bells, and my grandmother is supposed to get a shower twice a week. My mom went the other day and she said there was just so much dust in her shower and on her shower chair, you could tell it had not been used.

Brookdale was nice, it was clean, and well-maintained, but I just felt that their carpet needed cleaning. The staff was really friendly, as well as everybody I had contact with.

Brookdale is very nice, the staff is very good, and they keep me informed of everything that’s going on. Mom has been there for three months now. She got a little suite, a little living area, a kitchenette, a bedroom, and a bathroom.
They have new pricing, and they call it affordable suite; it was only $2500 a month for that private suite, but then you have to pay extra for anything that you need done. They do clean the rooms once a week, they do the laundry, and three meals were provided in the dining room. They bring a sandwich to your room if you don’t go down to the dining room. They have lots of activities; they had a van where they could take them to the doctor’s appointments or to the store. They have a very nice inside courtyard and a sun room. The food looked really good, and mama ate it, so it must have been good.

Brookdale was very nicely presented and the staff was well knowledged on people's needs and the facility. It was clean and orderly. In accordance of what was needed, it was fine. The dining room has nice chairs and they had a variety of activities; they go shopping together, play games together.

Sterling House of Rocky Mount is a really nice place. I like its location, and I also like that it seemed very clean. They have a very nice dining area. They have a sun deck, and the place is really secure. The rooms are really nice looking and more than adequate. The hallways are carpeted and very clean, but it’s just an expensive facility.

I visited Sterling House. My aunt and uncle were both residents of that community. The people are very caring, and it is very clean. I would highly recommend it. The staff is very nice, no problem with them whatsoever. She loved the food. The living accommodations are very nice. They had a 1-bedroom apartment. They had a lot of visitors within the community come by and visit and they were very comfortable. They have bingo and Christmas parties. She was very active in those.

We visited Sterling House Rocky Mount when we were looking for a place for my mom. Other than the facility is expensive, it’s a really nice place. It's elegant. The people there were also very nice. I know that they have different things for the residents to do every day. The lady who toured us around the facility was very nice. She showed us an apartment and it’s nice. I would recommend this facility to anybody who could afford it.

Sterling House is one of the cleanest facilities I have visited. It always had a warm and inviting environment. There were always nice smells, such as candles or air freshners in the air. The staff was very warm and welcoming to us when we would visit.

I am a volunteer at Brookdale Sterling House on Goldrock Road in Rocky Mount, NC. Overall, my experience with this assisted living facility has been exceptional. The residents seem happier overall at this facility than any other that I have visited in the area. I would say that 95% of the staff is friendly. There are one or two that seem grumpy about half of the time, but that is a lot better than in many places. The life enrichment coordinator (activity coordinator) is full of personality and always very helpful and flexible. The sales and marketing representative has been in touch with me numerous times and is always seeking to improve the image of the facility and keep all of the rooms occupied in these tough economic times. The facilities are very clean inside and out. The landscaping crew does a good job. The residents seem to enjoy the amenities and all of the meals. They recently compiled a cookbook from a collection of the residents' favorite dishes over the years. The only real complaint I have heard from the residents is that sometimes the planned activities call on them to be too "young" when they would just prefer things that older people like. I don't think this is too big of a con considering all the positives though. I know many people in this area who have said if they ever had to go to an assisted living facility, they would make it Brookdale Sterling House.

My husband and I are volunteers at this place. We started going to Sterling House in November of 2010. I have been pleased with the homelike atmosphere that is maintained, and the attentiveness of the staff. There is always a warm welcome when we or any visitor comes in the door. Some of the residents have commented to us that they prefer to live at Sterling House than anywhere else. I have enjoyed the time that I have spent in the company of each resident and staff member. The facility has regular, scheduled activities for the entertainment and edification of the residents. There is also the availability of a bus that will take residents anywhere that they need to go. My overall opinion of this assisted living home is that if you need a place where people will care for your needs, then Sterling House would be the place to go.
