The memory care unit nurses and cna’s paid no attention to my wife, they just let her die. My wife was mobile and coherent when she went in and passed away within 2 months! Would no recommend this place for my dog! They would wash clothes and she would never get them back, the administration there is terrible.

Can’t say enough good things. From the moment my mom got there until she left everybody was wonderful. They all took good care of her. The place is clean and no smells like other places you go. My mom enjoyed working with Nick in rehab and she is doing good at home. The only thing I would suggest changing is adding some private rooms.

My husband was a resident of The Laurels of Chatham. Their nurse was exceptional and very good at working with my husband's needs. The whole facility was above average. They were working on renovating a lot of the rooms while we were there. They had a lot of activities, but my husband did not participate in them.

This facility is warm and inviting. The staff is like family to us. The food is enjoyed by my family member.
Most questions/ messages are answered in a timely manner.
The aides are the hardest workers there!

I had a wonderful experience with this facility. The Physical Therapy group was so compassionate, helping me gain confidence and strength. The CNAs had such love for me and the rest of the participants (so obvious). The Nursing Staff made sure all my 'meds' were addressed, keeping me pain-free and comfortable...
I was sad to leave, yet I had to, because MEDICARE limited me time there....
I would have liked to stay longer, so as to get better sooner with the Physical Therapy I received...
I can not say enough (positive) about The Laurels!.... Jerry G.Dunn, M.Ed

Several staff members are wonderful and complete their assignments; however, the majority of the staff I was in contact with were lazy, walked by call lights, passed assignments to others or said, "I'll let your CNA know." My parent called for bathroom assistance and it was 15th minutes before he got assistance. I had to go and find someone to assist him.
Halls smelled of vomit. But, this was the first year I've noticed terrible smells at this facilities. Most times Halls are fresh smelling.
Good Facility
My family member was here for little over 6 months. staff working with them were always very kind and helpful to the needs as well as other guests. This facility is by far the best visited over ones in Siler city, Chapel hill, Asheboro. Always clean and no smell.

`I toured the facility, instead of just reading reviews. Staff was friendly, the building was very clean, and residents well groomed. I was very pleased with the care that my loved one received.

It is very had to leave a loved one who does not have the ability to tell you if they are not being treated well in the care of others. Overall, our experience with Laurels of Chatham was very positive. My relative's funds were used up by the prior cost of her health care and was on medicaid. Trying to find a good place that accepted medicaid patients without prior private pay required me to visit many facilities in the Durham, Chapel Hill, Pittsboro area. I left many facilities crying, knowing that no living creature should be housed in such conditions. Laurels offered a clean and safe environment with a majority of the staff both competent and nurturing. I visited at odd times of the day, on different days of the week and my relative was always clean and well groomed (these functions were performed by facility staff). I never found her in need of changing or unclean. The facility itself is basic, but that is to be expected for a for profit, medicaid facility. However, it was always clean and when I did detect a 'bathroom; odor on passing a room when entering to visit my relative, it was not there when I left. My relative had very delicate skin, prone to easy bruising and breakdown. Her skin integrity was maintained beautifully (more than 2.5 years) despite being unable to walk on admission and progressively losing limb mobility. Many staff were genuinely fond of her and she was treated kindly. As seems the case with many facilities in this cost range, the facility seemed under-staffed, with the staff having to constantly be on the go to attend to all their patients. Spending the morning or afternoon or evening there, it was easy to see how busy they were and the many difficult situations that arose that they had to deal with while keeping up with all the routines of care, and yet most were pleasant and professional. This is longer because I tried to think of things I wanted to know as I was making this difficult decision. The rating is 5 stars because I am comparing it to what I have observed at other medicaid for profit nursing homes and given that she had to be on medicaid, this was a very high level of care. (Note this is not in comparison to what can be found when private pay is possible at a facility such as HillCrest in Durham, NC)
mortified and concerned

I WOULD NOT recommend anyone placing a love one into this facility. My experience with this place has not been a good one, staff is rude, none tentative to the patients, the patients sit in the lobby in their own smell for hours at a time not being cared for - patience are being left in their rooms unattended. I have experience CNA's rude to patients when left alone with them and no family members around to witness. Unless you live local and are able to visit on a daily basis all hours of the day, I would not recommend anyone placing their love ones in this facility because of what happens behind closed doors. The CNA's make you feel as though your inconveniencing them when you ask them for assistance with your love one. There are a number of different reasons as to way I DO NOT recommend this facility to anyone but I would be here for days writing them. For these reasons and other's, I give a zero - that being a poor overall rating for this facility.

Laurels of Chatham is clean with no smell. The staff was very nice, friendly, and they seem to be very caring and knowledgeable about how best to handle individuals with dementia. They take them on outings, they have special lunches, and they have singers who come in and entertain the residents.
