My brother-in-law moved into Brookdale New Bern. They were very cooperative, very nice, extended their time, and answered all my questions, and they were very helpful. That's why we chose it. The staff was very helpful, Paula, Michael, and the nurse was Scott, they've been very helpful and my brother-in-law has been there almost a month, almost two months now. The dining area is very nice, it's in a bright area, it's big enough, and it's fine. The facilities were excellent and very clean. They have outings and game nights.

I went to Brookdale New Bern to tour it for my dad. I was very impressed. I liked the lady that we met with. Her name is Paula. I liked how she knew all the people there. I liked how the place is fairly small and home oriented. I just felt like it was a very nice, clean, quiet, calm, and a community run by people who cared. They have field trips. They have a hair salon, and they have an activity director that does a lot of different things with them. They have a lot of clubs, like card games and things like that. They provide church, card games, music, crafts, and field trips.

I went with my sister to Brookdale New Bern. It was very new looking, and it was clean. The director that gave us the tour was very nice. She took us through the whole facility. The dining room was spacious. It had windows looking out, and it was clean and well lit. They have a beauty and barber salon, and a library. It felt homey. It was very nice. They have like a newer section that was just built, and then they have an older section in the back. The new section was very nice and very new.

I like the curb appeal of Brookdale New Bern. It's beautiful. When you walk inside, it looks and smells nice and clean. It's very eye appealing. I think the rooms are nice. I think the salesgirl, Paula, is excellent. She really helped me out a lot. Michael, the director, is very, very kind and very accommodating. My friend likes the meals. I think the place is beautiful, I don't have any complaints. I would recommend it, I can't think of any place I would like better. The prices are very fair too. I know they said they can get haircuts. There's a library and a beautiful community room, where they can just sit. There's a beautiful courtyard that's enclosed. It's all very nice. There's a room where I saw a guy sitting and playing cards.

We liked Brookdale New Bern. It's a little bit more modern, but they did not offer a trial respite stay and they didn't have any rooms available at the time that we looked at it. They had a courtyard, and we met the activities director who has a dog that he brings in there and a lot of the residents seem to get a kick out of the dog.

Brookdale New Bern was very nice. It had very nice facilities and opportunities for the residents to do things. The rooms were clean, good-sized for a single person, and they were very nice. The staff was very helpful, seemed very cognizant of patient care, and keeping the residents happy. There was a bingo game going on in one facility and some gentlemen were playing cards. The menu had some variety to it.

Brookdale New Bern was nothing spectacular. The rooms were small and seemed clean, but I wasn’t impressed. The staff was very friendly and anxious to see somebody come in.

I liked Brookdale New Bern. They seemed to be trying to cover all of people's needs, so that was impressive. The staff was very nice. I saw three of their apartments, and they were very small. They were sort of expensive to be so small. There are restaurants along Glenburnie, and the place is fairly close to most things.

Sterling House of New Bern was okay. The room looked clean. She was not as thorough showing me everything. She did not explain a whole lot about the meals or anything. But it would be something that I would consider if I had to. It just was not quite as elegant as the other one. I did see the room and then she did show me a light housekeeping room that had just a twin bed and a little chair, a TV and just this little table, but it was very small. I don't think I would be interested in one that small for the time being. She didn't tell me too much about the activities. She actually walked me through it and then when we were finished and came back she stood there in the hallway and just handed me a brochure. But if I cannot go to that other facility, that would be my second choice.

My father stayed for 18 days in Sterling House of New Bern. He was a veteran. He had his own private room and it was nice. There was a restaurant-style dinning room and meals were served by the staff. I had no problems with New Bern at all. They were very good to him. However, they could not handle him because his dementia was worse than they imagined. He needed more care, thus they transferred him to Morehead to their sister unit.

I know someone that is in another facility in New Bern, NC. They had heard good things about Sterling House of New Bern and considered moving there. They asked me to take them there so they could check out the facility and see what it had to offer. There were several different care levels offered at Sterling House of New Bern. The facility was very clean and the staff was friendly. Parking is limited. The lady that greeted us informed us of room options, move in options, and other basic information. A short tour was given. The garden outside was well maintained. The tour director did inform us that they had staff to help dispense medication, help their clients get dressed, and perform other basic duties. There were not many residents outside of their rooms, but the ones that we did see were friendly. I would rate this as an average facility.

My grandmother was a client to the Sterling House senior care center. During her stay there, she was treated with care and attention. As someone suffering from advanced Alzheimer's, finding a place that could provide adequate care for her was a challenge in and of itself. She could no longer stay with my grandfather; she could have run off at any time and not remembered how to return home. When we brought her there, the caretakers quickly adopted a schedule to provide for her unique needs that suited both the faculty and my grandmother. Within a week they had the entire process down to a science. They provided meals for her, took care of her laundry and medications, and ensured she was comfortable and getting along with the other residents, despite her tendencies to wander around. All in all, they provided an invaluable service to both my grandmother and my family in a time of great stress for us.
