My mother-in-law is now a resident of Zebulon House. We've not seen it because of COVID. We got her moved in and we got a couple of calls from them, but overall, it's just fine. The outside of it is very nice. It is all on one level, and that's what we particularly like about it. Just looking from the outside in (because we could not go in), it was lit well, and it wasn't dark like a lot of other facilities are. The staff that we met that came out to help move her stuff in were very helpful. Based on the current condition, e.g., we couldn't go in, do a tour, or anything like that, overall, it's a place that she needed to be.

The look of Zebulon House Assisted Living is fine. As we were touring, they said Mom can have this and Mom can have that.Once she got in, I think there was an oversell and under-deliver. For the price, it's good. The place is clean, and the food is OK. Everyone seems to be nice, and they are all nice to me. The grounds look well-maintained. They take the residents shopping, they go out for meals, and they go to the fair. They also do bingo and church services. It's located out in the country and pretty much surrounded by trees, and there's a field of crops right by it. It's peaceful, quiet, and relaxing.

The staff is wonderful. They have a lot of activities. They have a lot of different interests for just the regular seniors where my mom's at and the dementia and Alzheimer's. They go out of their way. I've eaten there a couple of times and it is delicious. My mom's been there three weeks and she has a roommate. You can't have glass in there so I've gone there and redone a lot of the frames with plastic and all. I want to get it arranged with her and her roommate so it's homey. They just had a new activities director and I've heard nothing but good things. They stay busy during the weeks, but what bothers me is they only have a couple of things. I've talked to a friend of mine, whose mother was in assisted living as well in another location. Weekends are the worst part, there's no full time activities going on and if you don't have family or people to come in and visit you. They're friends with one another but with the dementia and Alzheimer's unit, I go in there and my mother will introduce me six or seven times. We're getting her adjusted. Before, we looked and looked and found this place to be the best. With her not being able to really speak for herself, we wrote a six or seven page thing about my mom for the staff there. The only concern that I'm addressing right now and not knowing their schedule is one, her incontinence, she doesn't know to tell them that she needs to go to the bathroom and change her pants. So I'll go over sometimes and it'll be wet. I've got a list of things to talk to the director about. My aunt was there before she passed away. She was there for several months.
