I went here on Day 5 post-op from major back surgery. They are extremely short of staff and I many times had to wait 30-45 minutes after finding a nurse call button. On Day 7 post op, they withdrew my pain meds and replaced it with extra strength Tylenol and on Day 8 with regular strength Tylenol and I experienced dehydration, neglect and hallucinations from the withdrawal of the pain meds. I had 35 staples in my back and very little care and assistance. Not enough water was provided each day. I left in a poorer state that when I arrived against medical advise. I was unable to rest there as residents were constantly calling out for assistance that took ages to get and from post op pain. This is not a place of healing or care.

We are constantly having to call down there from Pennsylvania to have him taken care of. Never receives his mail we send him. Never got his Christmas cards from us. Terrible care. They don't provide the right food or any food for that matter for his . diet. Staff never comes when called. Medicine was never applied to his feet at night per doctors orders . Things missing from his room.

I went to visit because I was looking for a place for my daddy to go to live since I can’t take care of him no more. Come to find out he needs a memry unit because he has alltimers and he does try to go outside at my house by hisself that is why I can’t take care of him. Krissy showed me and my brother around and she was so nice. Thanks to all her help I found a place for daddy.

Spoke with the administrator yesterday to check availability. He was very nice and said he would have someone call me. He said there were 11 people waiting ahead of my loved one.No one called me.So today I made another call and I guess reached the sales office. I have to tell you I have never been talk to so impersonal. Would not even tell me if rooms were available or not only my loved one would have to be assessed to see if they could except him. I decided to pay them a visit. I walked in and there is a circular nurses station in the center. There must’ve been 25 wheelchairs parked there so that the residents who were all dirty and slumped over could be watched more easily. It smelled like everyone of them had poop in their diapers! Horrible conditions

My mother was at Universal for rehab and I was very happy with the care there. The nurses and CNA's were always so friendly and when I had to leave I knew mom was being taken care of. Mom was hesitant about going to a nursing facility and she was ready to go home when she finished therapy, but if we had to make the choice again, we would definitely choose Universal.

My grandfather use to be here. Every encounter I had with a nurse or CNA was excellent. My pappy was always well taken care of. I would recommend any person to bring their loved one here.

My problem was with the activity director they called her velvet she is so rude not a people person she tried her best to make one of her guest feel small if I had been this girl who came to perform I would have left find you a real director

my sister was there for 7 years. she had a lot of health problems but I cant understand how she had gangrene in her foot and they say they didn't know they were changing the bandage every day and the doctor was checking it to. my sister was 65 years old and her mind was fine.the dr. never started her on a antibiotic.just morphine for pain

My mother has been at Universal for a little over a month and I could not be more pleased with the care she receives. I have never had any problem finding a nurse or CNA and my phone calls are answered promptly. My mother is treated with respect and dignity, which means so much. It has always been clean when I am there and there is seldom any odor.

I am not sure what facility the other two reviewers looked at, but me and my family have been very please with the care that my grandmother has been receiving. She is as happy as ever. As for the smells, there has never been any odors when I have come to visit.

Hands down the worse health care facility I have visited. Unable to find a nurse or anyone else to help me. Not very clean inside or out. Nothing for anyone to do but roam the halls and that seems to be all they did, so sad .On my mission to find a health care facility unfortunately this was the only one I had problems with and I visited several . Sorry improvement may need to be in the works.

GOOD LUCK FINDING A NURSE OF CNA TO COME AND HELP YOUR LOVE ONE WHEN NEEDED ... I THINK THEY ARE OVER WHELMED AND HAVE A LOT TO DO ? I COULD SMELL NOTHING BUT URINE WHEN I WENT TO VISIT AND I KNOW THE NURSES AND AIDS COULD SMELL IT AS WELL BUT DID NOTHING ? MANY ELDERS FALL AND WITH NOT MUCH ASSISTANCE .CHOOSE WELL THIS IS ONE OF YOUR LOVE ONES...
