My dad is at Brighton Gardens of Winston-Salem. He's in their memory care and he's been here for almost 5 years now. He was in assisted living at first and he's recently moved to memory care. It's been an excellent overall experience. You couldn't ask for better stuff. They're very kind people and very nice stuff. He's very happy there. I think they have a lot of activities. They do a lot with the seniors. I just can't say enough about the staff with how wonderful they are to the residents. There's always a personal touch, they always try to laugh and smile with the residents and give them hugs. They have something called the Smile app, which is an app on your phone. They can take pictures and tell you what's going on with your seniors that day or what they're doing at the facility that day. Then they send it to you via an email and they say, "Go check your smile app". I check my smile app on my phone and there will be a picture of my dad playing bingo or something and they'll say, "Wow, great time playing bingo today. He won seven times" or something like that. Or they'll show a plate of cookies that their little baking club made. It's just very nice. They keep the family members connected. The food is fine. It's not 5-star but it's certainly fine. It's not below par, it's above par. His room is very clean and maintained well. In one of those national survey companies, Brighton Gardens always wins the best staff award throughout the nation. They'll have issues like anybody else but they address those issues immediately.

We have chosen Brighton Gardens of Winston-Salem for my mother-in-law. It's a small community, and it was very well maintained. The staff looked like they were excited to be there. The room that we toured, and that we have put a deposit down on, was very nice; it is very spacious and has a private bathroom. For us, the location was a little out of the way; but for just the feel of the community, it's worth it. They offer personal daily living assistance; physical therapy is available, and when the time comes, we can just transition to hospice if needed.

Brighton Gardens of Winston-Salem was a very nice place. We were actually looking in the memory care section, which we didn't really care for because of the smallness of the apartments that they had. All we did was take a tour of the facility, and talked with the lady, and she was very helpful. The building was also clean and nice. They served them lunch and they had activities like baking, but it was at lunchtime, so we really didn't get to see that much of what they would do during the day. They have a salon too. We really didn't ask about whether or not they haven't had church services, because with COVID there were a lot of restrictions, and so they haven't been having anybody come in to do those things.

My husband moved into Brighton Gardens of Winston-Salem. It's excellent, they're attentive to my husband, attentive to my needs, they have good precautions for COVID, and I'm just very, very happy. I've not been inside, but the exterior is beautiful, and what I've seen through the windows is nice. The activities change from time to time because of COVID; I have not paid attention 'cause I don't really care, but I get emails about them all the time.
