I did a tour of River Landing at Sandy Ridge. I didn't find anything wrong with it. The tour was fun; I saw all of the apartments because that was all I thought I could afford. This is a continuing care community. It was the first place I visited. It's very nice. There's not a thing in the world you can say that's wrong with it, unless it's too expensive for you. It's expensive, but the question is, how much do you want to spend to get into that situation? It was just average. I wasn't particularly struck that it was great or not so great, small or not so small. I had determined going in that an apartment was probably not what I wanted in a congregant living setting. It's very well run. It's Presbyterian. They have every amenity you can think of, and it sits on a wonderful golf course if you're interested in golf. It has a brand-new indoor sports center with a swimming pool, pickleball, sports, and everything you can think of. They have three or four restaurants within the facility. You're given a meal ticket, and you just go where you want, whenever you want. The staff was excellent. It's very luxurious and very professional.

River Landing is a Presbyterian church-owned facility. They have what we call the big house where all the apartments are. My sister lived in a villa. They have those big houses, which are for independent living. She and her husband are renting their own villa with their own garage. They go to the main building's dining room for their meals. If they want to they've got a kitchen in their villa. They have their car, and they can just come and go. It's called continuing care. If they reach the stage where they can't get around, they'll move into the apartment in the main building where they will be able to have the kind of accommodation they need. I've had many meals with them, and it's lovely. It's fantastic. They have a wonderful chef, and he comes out and talks to everybody every now and then asking what you like or what you don't like. I stayed with my sister for about two weeks. I went to exercise class with her, and the exercise classes have an instructor who leads the class. They also have a room where you can just go in if you want to just ride the bicycle or use equipment. Then they also have a big, big, room where they have all the exercise classes. It's very wonderful. It's just like you were living in your own home. It's just that you have access if something happens and you fall immediately, they'll come and pick you up.

River Landing at Sandy Ridge is excellent. It's a very active community. The people are very friendly, and there are a lot of things to do. They have a wellness center, inside walk-in tracks, lot of equipment to work out on, and even if it's COVID, we have art, and a lot of Bridge going on every day. We have a 9-hole golf course here, which I love. There are just lots of activities. The staff is excellent. They all know your name when you come in and they call you by your last name, which is very nice. The food's really excellent as well. They have four restaurants here, so you have a lot of different things you can go to. They also got a salon and a lot of classes, like yoga. Whatever you want is here. They also have internal medicine clinic just down the hallway.

I'm moving into River Landing At Sandy Ridge. It has all different levels of living, independent, assisted, and long-term care. The staff is very professional, the rooms are very clean, and gonna meet my needs. The food is almost gourmet, it's 3 meals a day, and your choice of 5 different restaurants. They have a pool, a golf course, a gym, and 2 licensed physical therapists. Everything is inside.

River Landing At Sandy Ridge is a Presbyterian retirement community. I was very impressed by everything that they had. It was a very high-class, elaborate, luxurious place. I was thrilled, but it was out of my parents’ price range. We looked at the physical therapy room, which was not as good as the one in the other facility we looked at, but they did have a wonderful pool. Everything was so beautiful and plush. They had a hallway and a couple of corridors loaded with pictures from the residents. They had a bookstore and a beauty parlor and one of the most gorgeous-looking pools. It was one of the most fabulous retirement places I have ever seen. The food was gourmet. They have wonderful activities. I was in one of the Wednesday morning church services that had a very powerful message that lots of people attended in walkers and wheelchairs. The place was absolutely packed with people. I like the fact that they had skilled nursing connected with the assisted living and independent living. All of those hallways are connected, so it wasn’t like the skilled nursing was in a separate building. However, they didn’t have a large enough room for physical therapy, and I don’t think there was a whole lot of staff for the physical therapy, so that concerned us.

My father-in-law was in River Landing for 4 years before he passed away. The staff is caring, and very outstanding. The food there was fine. He was in a private room, and it’s very clean. I have no complaints for 4 years that he was there.

We preferred River Landing, but our family is in another area. It is a smaller facility so it's more like a small town and friendlier. The staff and the personnel are more friendly. The staff who assisted us were wonderful. It's very secure for the various levels of care. I would recommend this to others.

Since it has opened, I learned that this facility has been on the top of its game getting five out of five stars in most categories and, from what I seen, it does not seem to be slowing down. The outside looks beautiful and very well placed. I would have made it a little bigger for the patients to have more area to walk but that's me. The inside looks beautiful. It is your typical "regal" style looking assisted living facility. Very nice furniture with all the amenities. The one great thing is that this place sits on 150 acres that has a golf course nearby so golf fanatics, go at it. Some of the patients tell me the food is great, especially a Vietnam vet you said it reminded him of trench food....which I do not think it was that bad. I think he was picking around with me. There were games being played and plenty of activities going on daily. I would make this one of your first stops.
