Croatan Village is an Assisted Living and Memory Care community nestled on the edge of the scenic Croatan National Forest located in historic New Bern, North Carolina.
Just minutes from the picturesque waterfront, our community is a licensed 72-bed assisted living & memory care community designed and specially staffed to accommodate seniors who require daily supervision or personal assistance.
Services:
Medication Management Program
Housekeeping services are provided to ensure that our resident’s rooms are clean and neat.
Some families prefer to do laundry for their loved ones, but we offer laundry services to our residents.
Each residential suite and bathroom is equipped with an emergency call bell that alerts staff when the resident needs assistance, so help is always available.
Trained professionals visit our community to provide services, alleviating long and tiresome trips to the doctor’s office.
Barber/Beauty Salon for the hair care needs of all our residents, provided by a professional independent hair care specialist.
Our distinguished memory care program is specially designed to reflect our residents’ personal interests and encourage a sense of meaning, purpose and success. We have created a unique activity program designed for people, some of whom may have cognitive impairment that may include dementia or Alzheimer’s, who can benefit from an intimate environment and a highly trained staff. We provide 24-hour supervision, care and programming, complete with a dining area, activity area, walking paths and amenities.

Croatan Village seemed very dated, but I know they were at the beginning of renovations, so hopefully, it looks better when they're done with that. The staff were very nice and friendly. The rooms were small. The common areas seemed fine. They need to update their facilities. The interaction between the staff and the residents seemed fine.

The people at Croatan Village were really nice and very caring. The facility was about average, but I think it's the people that made it. They were very interested in their clients' well-being. They had all sorts of activities lined up. They're great to talk to. The staff member during the tour was very outgoing, very knowledgeable, a real people person, and seemed to know everybody that walked by in the hallway and what was going on in their lives. We went and talked to one of the residents that was in the assisted living, and she's a very nice lady, showed us around, and toured her room. We went and looked at the activity center and we looked out on the courtyard with the garden where they're growing vegetables and flowers for their group. I would definitely recommend it. The people were really caring there. The lady that runs it has been doing that for 32 years, and she's very knowledgeable.

Visited my father on SAturday.The smell in the hall is awful.A very strong urine smell.Also,I could tell that he had not had a shower.He also smelled like urine.I throught keeping him clean was part of him staying there.Need to do better

Croatan Village has offerings that really believe my parents will enjoy! The studio space is nice - the common areas are more than adequate - upgrades are being done - bright and airy - the staff are professional and approachable, very friendly and the meals get great reviews-

The appearance of Croatan Village looked like an older community that needed a little sprucing up. I toured the assisted living and the girl staff told me that they are going to be putting new flooring down there soon so that'll help. The staff was very friendly and they always had things for the people to do there. The reason that I didn't select that place for my sister was that they would not accept her dog. They were doing the exercise class when I was there. They put music on and the residents sat on chairs and used those elastic bands for leg exercises and things like that. They were having a good time.

Croatan Village appears to be nice from the outside and well kept. I haven't been able to see much of the community since you can't go inside. Right now they don't have activities, and they're only staying in their rooms. My mom's room appears to be spacious and clean. I have only communicated to the staff by phone, but they seem to be pleasant, and they are helpful.

My mother did a respite stay at Croatan Village to see how she liked it, and then she decided to move there. They print out a monthly calendar of activities. I like that it's not a real big facility, and the people are very friendly. When we did our visit, we got the chance to meet everybody from the maintenance man, to the cook, the chef, and the nurses.

My mother has been in Croatan Village for about three years now and is very comfortable there. The staff is very nice. She is in a shared room that is very clean and well ventilated. I would not keep her there if it wasn’t. I pay a good amount of money to keep her there every month. I will not put her someplace else. The food is very good and comes in very nice portions. The have a lot of groups that come to sing and play bingo.

I like Croatan Village; it’s a privately-owned place, not a chain. I like the people and the one-on-one with the staff. One of the staff has been there ever since it opened 15 years ago. Two or 3 had been there 13 years, so it means it’s a nice place. They’re friendly, nice, caring people.
My mom was in a semi-private room for about 2 ½ weeks, and she just got a roommate this past week. The rooms are nice, large, and clean. The bathroom is large which surprised me. They have built-in drawers; they also have furniture there, or you could take your own furniture.
They offer games, crafts, TV, and ice cream socials. They take them out to eat; they take them shopping if they want to go. They have local bands or people to play instruments and sing, come in on Friday nights. They have a day that they’re pampered. They have a company or a group come in that soaks their feet and does their toenails. There’s a lady there who’s been there 15 years that does their hair. They play cards and have board games.
Mother has never been one to complain about the food anywhere. She likes seafood, chicken, and pork chops, but beef is not something that she really cares for. Once in a while, they will serve beef, but most of their meals are seafood or vegetables or chicken, so she gets along really good. She’s put on about 5 or 6 lbs in the 3 weeks that she’s been there.

I like the staff at Croatan Village. I also like the fact that they have apartments. They have a two room apartment that has a living room, kitchen, and a bedroom. They also have one room unit available, so that was nice about them. I also like that at night every two hours, they go in each resident's room and check on them to make sure that everything is OK. We are now on their waiting list.

We choose Croaton Village for my aunt and uncle because of the high recommendation from other people from the community and also for the affordability of it as well as the services. It has been excellent. The biggest thing that we appreciate about them is the size of the rooms they have. It is like a mini-apartment. They are nice and spacious. The staff takes care of every need that they have, and they even anticipate future needs. We have not eaten there, but everybody that eats there that we speak with says the food is excellent. They have several activities going on. They have bingo, arts & crafts, outings, museums, parties, restaurants, and shopping. They are very happy with the community. I will absolutely refer them to anyone without hesitation.

Croatan Village Assisted Living Community had a wonderful first impression. It looked well-maintained. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist as soon as we entered the building. After I explained that we were there because my family member was considering moving, she offered to give us a tour. We met several friendly residents, and everyone seemed happy. The staff encourages independence but makes it very clear to residents that they are there when needed. Transportation is provided for appointments to all residents. Food is also provided. We were offered a free lunch while we were there, but it did no look appetizing. We were provided with rates, move in options, and other basic details while we were there. The staff did a wonderful job of making us feel welcomed. All of the residents we spoke to encouraged living at Croatan Village Assisted Living Community. A few different activities were going on while we were there, and it seemed like a normal occurrence.

My visit was good. My first impression was correct, even from the outside the facility looked in great condition. The lawn and garden was meticulously manicured. The facilities were clean. The staff was very nice. The suite my grandmother lived in was furnished very beautifully. The amenities were on par with what I expected, they even had a salon. My grandmother tells me they provide transportation to and from her appointments. As far as the food, she said she wishes the food was better, but it's ok for what it was. The nurse that came in while I was visiting was very nice and responsive. Everyone we encountered was very professional. We were taken on a mini-tour, and I liked what I saw. The activities area was appropriate for the demographic. The kitchen area was clean, and there was a computer lab. We were informed that there were several therapists onsite. I would suggest this facility to anyone.

I did volunteer work at this facility. I've been there several times and I found the staff to be very nice. I liked the fact that the activity director was creative and brought in different activities for the residents of the home. The residents seemed to be very happy, and they enjoyed participating in activities. We played games with the residents and let them win tickets to go "shopping" for free gifts. It was a lot of fun. I saw church groups coming there, choirs, musicians, and arts and crafts teachers. I also took a tour of the entire facility and saw the assisted living suites. Let me tell you, they are nice. I was really impressed. The residents had decorated their doors and it was so cute, and really seemed like a home. The residents had independence, yet still had staff just down the hall. I also liked the fact that this place was very clean and it smelled clean. I also visited the non-suite side and everyone seemed happy and things looked fine.
