We are putting mom for respite care at The Ivy at Gastonia for one week for a trial run. I liked the administrator there. She gave me the tour, and she was very nice, informative, and friendly. They only have 50 beds in there. Mom will be sharing a room with someone else. It is big enough for her to have her own space. She will have a TV of her own, which is good. They need to do some remodeling, but overall the place was clean. They allow service dogs to live with the residents in the facility. I saw the dining area and the sitting areas out front and back.

My mother was sent to The Ivy from Caromont Hospital. It was so hard for our family to leave our loved one in the care of someone else and not bring her home. We cried, prayed and took each day one day at a time. This place welcomed my mother and has taken care of all her needs. The staff always goes out of there way to give her hugs and make sure she has what she needs. She has been very happy and loves so many of the Nurses, CNA’s and Staff ……(Administration, Dietitian, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Activities Director, etc. ) They all need Recognition. If we have concerns about her care, the Administrator will listen and make sure we get the answers we need. My sister and I only have goods things to say about the staff that works with our mom. They have been great! She loves the activities and looks forward to them daily. I do recommend this facility. They are continuing to make improvements so all patients can have a Happy, Caring, Safe and Loving Environment to live in.

Absolutely one of the worst places I have ever seen. Wrong medication was given Patient fell out of the bed Stayed in soiled mess all night Doesn't get warm food and very little food given. Doesn't get proper care AT ALL!!!!! I witnessed a nurse arguing with a patient with obvious dementia. I can't believe this is a licensed facility. This was the only facility with an open bed, we transferred out of there as soon as we could.

Some of the staff is wonderful. Other faculty and staff treat rehabilitation and permanent residents the worst by yelling and refusal to assist them when they need help

I have to be honest and say I was super worried when I heard my parents would be going to a nursing facility for rehab after covid. I was truly blown away at what a great place this one. It was clean/smelled great and the staff was SPECTACULAR from the nurses to the director to the janitor to the cooks! My parents truly felt loved!

My mom is still in rehab at The Ivy at Gastonia. With Covid, we are not allowed in, but everything seems fine and everybody has been really helpful. I have seen the outside and it's an older place, but it is well kept and clean. She was on quarantine for two weeks, so she wasn't allowed out of her room. They didn't get to participate with each other because of Covid, but it seems to be meeting her needs. Her room is fine for her. It is not as big as the place she had been in, but she only got her bed and her recliner, so she doesn't need a lot of room. The food is good. When they have something that she doesn't like, they will make her, her favorite.

Ok,where do I start , residents have to wait almost 45 minutes to be taking to the restroom and the ones whom can't go smell like Urine. They are understaffed and the few good ones are struggling ,because they can't keep employees, due to the fact of the Administrator! Very Unprofessional! Rude to the employees and residents Family. The Administrator they just Hired by far THE WORST ONE YET UNPROFESSIONAL!! Having their 16yr. Niece feed Residents!!! A No No! And the Food everyday some kind of pasta, residents get food that they are not supposed to be eating, due to diabetes, meds! Residents that can't feed themselves are just sat there plates in front of them! Maybe it because there understaffed, But that won't change if the Administrator Don't!

Wow what a wonderful caring place. In my opinion they deserve to be deficiency free! The staff was God sent to us! I can not thank them enough. I have had my family member in other homes and from time to time been in other homes. Hands down this one is the best. The Administrative staff was super. Great team and leadership. Can not say enough good about this place

Meadowwood is the closest thing to home that you will ever experience. Many facilities claim to treat your loved ones like their own family but MeadowWood does just that.. They provide excellence in care and customer service. I do not know why the CMS star rating system gives them bad marks. I think it is unfair to the little guys. This is a gem of a place with quality care, Resident Centered Activities, Superb management and very caring employees in every department. Give them a try you will be able to rest at night knowing your loved one is in such caring and capable hands.

I placed my mother in Meadowwood about a month ago. The staff that work there are fantastic. They treat my mother with the utmost respect and dignity. They go above and beyond what their job calls for. She is in a dementia facility, and the rooms are nice. She has her own private room -- kind of like a hospital setting -- and she has her own bathroom. The food is fantastic. I actually eat there myself with her sometimes. They have all kinds of activities from reading the newspapers and books, karaoke, puzzles, and crafts. I like it because it has cameras.

My mother was in a Memory Care unit (Alzheimer) from Aug 2012 until April 2013 when she fell and broke her hip. After she was released from Rehab, issues developed which required her to be placed in a skilled nursing facility. At she 95, she had also become wheelchair/bed bound, and had stopped talking before her fall. Hospice informed us that Meadowwood Nursing Center had a bed available. We were a little apprehensive at first, but on our first visit we were impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, no smell of urine or feces. The staff we met were friendly and had a cheerful attitude. We met some of the residents and one told us she had been there about six months and that they took good care of her. We moved Mother in the beginning of June 2013. Mother’s food had to be pureed, and I sampled many of her dishes which actually tasted good. Initially Mother was able to feed herself, but after six months or so, she had to be fed. I witnessed many meals where the residents had to be fed, and saw the caring attitude of the staff. Mother was at Meadowwood almost nine months. During that time, not once did we notice any smell of urine/feces. We feel that Mother received 5 star treatment for the 9 months. I cannot brag enough about the staff; from housekeeping, to dietary, nursing and aid care, to the administrative staff. Everyone we came into contact with was just excellent. We would gladly use Meadowwood again.
