Brookridge Retirement is a continuing care. The staff is unbelievable. They have longevity and my mother-in-law has been there a long time, and they have followed her through the progression of her dementia and made sure she was in the correct level of care all along the way. It was small enough that she knew the people who were caring for her as she moved from one level of care to another. She is still with the physical therapist that she was so familiar with and the CNA when she moved into memory care. They have an extremely high ratio of caregivers. They only have ten memory care units and they have four nurses, and so they have kept her very happy.
I've eaten there frequently and I think they really cater very well to whoever's there. The cafeteria personnel are incredibly caring and really going the extra mile. Before they put her in memory care, we met with seven different professionals, people with the PHDs and masters. The activities director was there, the dietitian, the speech therapists, and physical therapists. They have programs set for her for the nurses to execute, and I think the activities given to her were appropriate for whatever state she has been in, including when she was in the independent living. In the memory care they have drawings, paintings, a kitchen set up for them to work in, and just a variety of things. It's tailored to each individual resident. Like my mother-in-law can no longer draw or paint or do that kind of thing, so they have other things that she can do. It's not a one-size fits all. I think, price wise, they're very reasonable.

This is a wonderful place to live. The maintenance staff is always willing to put together furniture, hand pictures and check on potential problems. The dining room serves appealing and a variety of food and the wait staff always tries to please the residents. On campus is a physical therapy group with wonderful physical therapists. The surroundings are beautiful and garden homes for independent living are spacious. The people residing at Brookridge are encouraged to have input into the various aspects of living. A resident council keeps in touch with the staff and makes recommendations for change. There are numerous activities to enjoy both away from campus and on campus. The costs of living are not as high as some other groups who offer all levels of care. A positive is four levels of care; health care which provides nursing care, memory care, assisted living and independent living. The community is located close to grocery stores, banks, restaurants and the post office. Medical personnel visit for the convenience of those who cannot drive and there is transportation to medical appointments available as well for a fee. We have resided here for two years and have no complaints.

I visited Brookridge Retirement two years ago where my father-in-law was. It seems to be staffed properly in the memory care unit. Everything was in good working order and up to date. I would say that the community is in good shape. The dining area and food is good. For institution food, it is better than most. The staff is very attentive, helpful and pleasant. I like the setting. It was actually in a forest so it's very private. All the facilities were in very good shape. We were paying a premium, but it was definitely worth it. If I ever had to go to one, I would want to pick this place because it's a good choice.

Brookridge Retirement Community was very nice. I was very impressed with it. Since we have dogs, they showed me a ground level unit. It was really nice because we could just open our little patio door to let them out. The facilities were very clean and really nice and had very friendly people. The director of marketing was wonderful and nice, and I liked everything about the place. The rooms were great, I saw both the unfurnished and the furnished ones, which helped me see how the furniture fits. They wanted me to come back and have lunch. They showed me the dining room and the menus, and took me to their little café. I also saw the private dining room where they have family over, which was really nice. They also had a swimming pool and a fitness room, which were important to me.

My parents moved to this community more than three decades ago. Brookridge has taken care of them the whole time. Never mind the comments about upper management. The people who have taken care of my parents (security, maintenance, food services, and the folks in the assisted living area, who took care of my father with Alzheimer's and type 1 diabetes until he died, were all wonderful. And they still are.

My best friend took up residence here about 6 months ago. The facility is very nice as you enter it and it's equally nice inside. The nursing staff is superb; very attentive and caring. But I'm not at all impressed with the upper management and especially the way they talk to their employees. I overheard a woman chastising a nurse or nurse assistant in a hallway and my friend that resides there told me she was one of the big bosses of the facility. I don't feel that is very professional behavior to criticize an employee publicly. My friend tells me the day staff is very attentive but not the the night staff because the bosses are gone.
I'm not sure I recommend this place to others.

My grandmother recently suffered a stroke, and my mother and I were trying to find a location for her to go to receive skilled nursing, and then have the possibility of long term care, with Medicaid. Admissions told my mother they would work with her, and she went to sign the papers to have my grandmother transferred. The very next morning, they called and informed my mother that the wouldn't take her because of the possibility of long term care with medicaid. I feel they could've informed her of that prior to the day they were planning on discharging my grandmother. Now, we're scrambling to try to find another place. I don't have to set foot in the place to recognize and understand that's not how you do business. Highly disappointed in this establishment.

We placed him in Brookridge. The rooms are awesome, and the food is very good. He is comfortable, very well cared for, and as happy as can be. They are expensive. It was three blocks from where he lived.

From the outside Brookridge seems to be a beautiful community, but after placing my family member there I soon saw differently. Upper management is extremely unprofessional, and if you ask questions you always receive a roundabout answer. It's as if no one really knows what's going in in the building. The nursing care is subpar, and the associates seemed disinterested in my loved ones care. I would not recommend this facility to anyone!!!

My mother has Alzheimer's and is in the Brookridge. My sisters live in Winston Salem and they're both nurses, but I'm not really sure why we chose this facility for my mom other than they had availability at that time and we've been very happy with her care there considering that she's in a very bad shape. Most of the staff seems to be very nice and is doing well in providing her full care because she can't really do anything. The facility has a pleasant environment.

My father moved through all of the care levels at Brookridge, from independent living to assisted living to memory care to nursing care. All along the way the staff was responsive to any concerns that I had and went out of their way to be helpful. The memory care unit is a little gem - a beautiful (enclosed) garden area, two cats for company and the residents eat together around a kitchen table. My father resisted moving at first but soon grew to love it. My only negative was that some caregivers were uncomfortable when my father started talking about dying.
