Whispering Pines Nursing & Rehab Center was fine. The room that we went to where my aunt was in was very nice and very large. It had a sofa and a regular chair. Her bathroom was right there, too. She was there for probably six months or so. My family really liked Whispering Pines. The staff were very nice, very calm, and very responsive. Personal care was excellent. They were very nice people and very skilled. They had activities. In fact, there was a question of participating in the religious services there. The only thing we needed to do was make sure that she was dressed appropriately for the services. We wanted to make sure that she didn't have on scrubs because it was a religious service. We wanted to make sure that she had an outfit rather than a nursing gown. We want to make sure she was dressed nicely, and they were very kind and said that's wonderful. She was in the rehab because she'd had a stroke. The place was nice and clean, and we knew exactly where we were going. When I say nice and clean, it didn't smell. There was no odor and no offensive odor at all. Even though she had a stroke, she was very able to to talk to express her ideas. We did ask her about the food, and we saw the tray which was an adequate amount of food.

This facility is fantastic. They took good care of me at all times. The room was spacious & very nice. The staff was execellent. They have church services, games & other meetings to attend. I chose my meals for each day & the food was very good.

Despite the outward appearance, this place did not meet the needs of my mother-in-law. The food was done & the facility was clean but when an 82 year patient calls for help to get to restroom doesn't very help and had to try to make her way to the bathroom on her own, that's sad. She wasn't allowed her walker yet as PT had to do assessment and her wheelchair was left halfway across the room where she couldn't get to it. As a result, she didn't make it to the restroom in time. Top that with a bathing experience that left her feeling violated, we checked her out AMA less than 48 hours after she arrived there. We were told bathing was done per standard procedure but when someone says stop and is begging you to stop, her rights as a patient and human being were grossly violated. Would NOT recommend this place for your loved ones!

My mother-in-law is at Whispering Pines, and I really have no problem with the place. It has been great, and we are fine with it. It is a very nice place; it is clean and organized. It is a rehab facility, and then they have double rooms or single rooms for skilled nursing. She is now in a room where they are just helping her with her daily needs. The staff is great as far as I am concerned. We have never had any issue.

Whispering Pines has been around a while. It was the first nursing home in North Carolina to be licensed, but it's a good place. It just had skilled patients. It was a little building of 60 patients, and now it's like 120 patients. It was very clean, and the administrator was helpful. My mother-in-law stayed there for 30 days. They were good to her, and they were very patient with her, too. She wasn't happy there because it wasn't where she wanted to be. I have nothing bad to say about them. My husband ate with her there one time, and he said the food was really good. It was a good-sized room. She had her TV and a little love seat brought in. It was very spacious. They were short-staffed, so they couldn't make rounds quite like they needed to. If she had to go to the bathroom, or if she had to get up, or if she needed something, they were a little bit slower on the job than I would like for them to be. It wasn't that I ever found her really in a bad way, but her meds sometimes came very late. I enjoyed being a visitor on Sunday. They would have church groups come in to sing. They're good with their crafts. They have a good program. They keep them alert and interested as much as they can instead of letting them just lie in their beds.
