My mom is a resident of Terrabella Lake Norman. The community of residents have been friendly. The actual physical property is attractive and safe. The leadership are great at communications and responding to requests for transportation and maintenance matters. There's a beauty/barber salon. There are great social activities that relate to physical therapy, walking clubs, movie nights, and all kinds of games. A highlight, particularly for my mom, is an art class. They have church services held onsite, which are convenient and meritorious. They've pivoted well with any COVID matters. They've taken good precautions in serving meals in the rooms when needed, but also returning to social gatherings in the cafeteria at appropriate times.

TerraBella Lake Norman was well designed, comfortable, and spacious. The staff was excellent, caring, friendly, and knowledgeable of the residents. The rooms were good sized and kind of what you'd expect. The activities were a plus. I think they've been established over a decade, so they know how to work that out and get good activities directors. They have a beauty salon, an activities room, and a library.

TerraBella Lake Norman was a very happy place. I met a lot of the staff. I met a lot of residents, and there was just a lot of energy. The facility impressed me in terms of the hallways and the dining areas. They were all top-notch in terms of feeling comfortable and looking great. The individual rooms were smaller. If my father moved from independent living to assisted living, you'd have to physically move the entire room to a very small studio. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that he would have to move rooms from a 1-bedroom to a small studio, if you wanted to get assistance. Everything was happy. The staff was happy. The residents were happy, and even the halls were happy.

I'm a resident of TerraBella Lake Norman. I'm in independent living, and my wife is up in memory care. The place is very clean, and the people are very nice. I have a minimal amount of complaints as far as living here. I'm not anxious to leave, but I want to get my wife straightened out, which we're in the process of doing. That's the reason why they want to do a reassessment here in a couple of weeks and see if we can move her back down. If I get her moved back down with me, I'm not going to move. I'm very happy here, but we're at different ends of the spectrum, and this separation is killing me. She's up in memory care, and I'm down here, and it's not cheap. My daughter says, "You'd better get yourself together because your money is going." The place is very nice, they keep it very clean, they paint it, and they have a garden. It's a big complex. We have a hair salon and a workout room. Before the pandemic, we had regular people coming in, and they would do your nails, but the pandemic changed everything. The staff is excellent, very capable, and very nice.

We went to see it. The apartment was quite spacious for my sister's needs. I think it would have met her needs fully. My sister liked the fact that she has a little kitchenette because she still cook some of her own meals and the one on the other facility we visited, there was no cooking in the room. There was a separate living area and the bedroom was quite spacious. It was plenty big enough for her to have a bed, dresser chest and a desk. The bathroom was a nice big bathroom, well laid out with a fold down seat in the tub area. Size wise it would have been perfect for her. The room in the main area had a table so if she wants to have people in, then that's where she could do it, that's the room she needs. She doesn't like the one with just one room that she's going to have her bed in. Most of the places that we've visited has one little tiny room and a bathroom. That's all there is, it's more like a small studio. Whereas, this one has a separate bedroom. We have to go back because we were only able to look at empty apartments at the time we went but I have first seen a virtual tour in the facility itself. They had walking trails around the place. One of the apartments we looked at was facing out into an outdoor garden. It's secured and you have to have a number punched in to get in to the area and that would be nice. If she wanted that unit, she would be able to have chairs outside to the little concrete patio. She could have chairs outside for sitting out in the sun or whatever she wants to do so that extends her living space little bit, which was a good thing.

My mom will be moving in. They have a really great staff and it is a very nice facility. The grounds were very nice. I live about four miles away, so it's going to be a very nice arrangement. My mom has selected a very nice 1-bedroom apartment. The floor plan is nice and it includes everything for my mom to be very comfortable, like a nice kitchen with quite a bit of space. They have music, meals, areas where people can relax and do things; there's a bistro and game rooms. They also have outings and shopping. They can sign up for trips up to the mountains, and they take them to doctors' appointments.

We chose it because they seemed to be more concerned about my mother than the other places. The people and the residents welcomed my mother into the community, that's the feeling we got, that it's more centered around my mother. They go from independent to assisted living, to memory care, so it's all-inclusive. She's first going into independent, and as she progress she'll be able to stay where she is so she's not going to lose the people that she meets there. We dealt with two staff members, especially one gentleman by the name of Mark, who is the director, and another woman named Katie. Both of them showed my mother around, and she was apprehensive, so when she first got there they brought her through the independent living entrance so she didn't have to see all the people in walkers and wheelchairs. They showed her the apartment she was going to be in and the dining room, they really took the time and effort to get to know her, and make her feel comfortable. She gets three meals a day, and they also have what they call an open kitchen so if she wants a snack or coffee during the day she can go there any time. Once a month they go on trips, like to one of the museums downtown, or to places where they make furniture, or to a casino. They will also throw a welcome party or dinner for her with all the residents, and they can invite people as well. They have sing-alongs with guitars or pianos, there's a game room with tables where they play mahjong, or bridge, and they have a lot to keep their residents active. Another thing is that my mother will be in independent living, but she didn't have to buy in into that place, so it's month-by-month rent. It's good, because if there's a reason for us to take her out of there we can do that right away. My mother tasted the food and she thought it was good; it's restaurant style, meaning they have a set menu. If my mother doesn't like what's on the menu, she can order something like a hamburger or something, and everything is made fresh, they don't use frozen vegetables or whatever. My mother has a two-bedroom apartment, which is spacious, and she can use the other bedroom for her furniture and things so she won't feel like she's giving up, which is what the staff has also advised.
