Holiday Durham Regent was a warm and welcoming place. They provided many, many different services that my father-in-law would have needed. The apartment was clean. Utilities were provided and the price was affordable. They got dining facilities, community areas for reading and recreation, and additional places for getting haircuts. We liked its close proximity to the VA and their ability to have transportation to places. There are also games, and special events to celebrate certain things. They had plenty of activities. Plus they had a movie theater there. I met one of the representatives, Russell, and he was excellent.

I'm currently in Holiday Durham Regent. I like the environment and the atmosphere in terms of friendliness, cooperation, and kindness. People are good to each other here, residents and staff alike. I don't think they are totally dedicated to their jobs because they are not being paid well. I don't think the staff is treated the way they believe they should be treated, and I tend to agree with them. They are sort of ignored and taken for granted. My attitude is they are people, too. They are just like everybody else, and they like a little bit of respect. I think the corporation should give more and value their employees more than they do. There's a very high turnover rate in the kitchen, dining room, and housekeeping staff. People are constantly leaving, and it is very hard to keep a trained staff. The food is wonderful. We have an activities director, and she's doing a great job. I think old people tend to not not feel that they need to be entertained all the time. There is always something going on in the way of participation in games, Bible study, or going out to lunch. There are many, many things that go on that a person can use to stay happy. For some reason, people feel that it is OK to just throw trash on the ground, like cigarette butts, napkins from fast food restaurants, and maybe a soft drink cup. There is an element of people here, and I'm not sure whether it's staff or residents. I feel like it's not residents because in my generation, we were taught not to litter. There is litter, and it is unattractive and actually unsanitary. I don't know how they would go about doing it, but I wish they could maintain the place a little bit better. It's a lovely layout. It is one big building and then several little cottages off to the side. We have a pastor come in on Sunday mornings for church, and we have movies every night except one night of the week. We have a lovely four story building with plenty of room to spread out. You can be as private as you want to be in your own little apartment. It is adequate. It's not fantastic. We have a salon. There are no tennis courts. There's no swimming pool. I doubt that a whole bunch of people would use those things anyway. There are a lot of people here in their eighties and nineties, so they are not tennis players anymore.

The Holiday Durham Regent was beautiful. One thing that we liked was that the elevator has a glass backside where you can see out and doesn't make you feel enclosed, and that's a big point for claustrophobic people. The rooms and halls are quiet. The rooms that we saw were very, very nice. We like them. They took a lot of time with us, and we spent a lot of time with the salesperson. They weren't in a hurry, and they were very amenable to working with the clients. The food was pretty good. We liked it. They have a library, a dining area, a private dining area for families, and an area where they can do crafts and all kinds of things. They had a nice walking area, which was a quiet path up against the woods. It was very nice and very quiet.

Durham Regent was good. The things that concern me were the clutter in the hallway and there was a loud noise on 15-501, which is adjacent to the part of their facilities. They had an exercise facility, hair care and nail care for the ladies, movies, people coming in to entertain them, shopping trips, and things of that nature. The staff did a good job and they were caring people.

I toured Durham Regent and it was good. I saw the first floor and saw a 1-bedroom. It was kind of small for what I'm looking for, but I was able to see and get an idea of what they have. As far as cable, they only deal with Spectrum because they don't have Google Fiber in their area. I saw another room, a 2-bedroom, and that one again was small. I also saw a cottage and it was a decent upgrade. I saw the dining area, too. The place was very clean. I only have interaction with one staff, and she was pleasant, and she was able to show me the rooms. She was very pleasant. She told me what they have there like they have the shampoo and hairstylist that comes in. She showed me the library. It was fine there. You see the car park and it was clean. It was quiet when I got there.

The tour experience I had at Durham Regent was really good. I really enjoyed talking to Ross, he answered all my questions. It was independent living though, and that was not what we were looking for because we needed assisted living. I saw an apartment and it was being renovated, which I thought was a good idea. New floors, new painting, and new everything for somebody to move in. The dining area was very, very nice too. I wouldn't mind eating there. During my visit, people were working on puzzles, were on the computer, and there were also people in the common area just visiting each other. The outdoor area was very nice and inviting for people to be able to come out, sit and relax, and gather. The staff was very nice too. They introduced themselves and were willing to talk when we needed any questions answered. The place smelled nice and clean. They had all the decorations out. I looked at all the activities that they had during the day, and I was impressed with all the different things that the residents could participate in.

Durham Regent was very nice, clean, and welcoming. The staff did an awesome job of giving us all the information and knowledge that we needed to decide if that place was appropriate for our family or not. I met the director and he was great. They have a movie room, they have game nights, they have various activities for the residents or clients that live there.

Durham Regent was very bright and clean. The person that gave us the tour gave us a good tour. She showed us several different options for the size of room. She showed us all of the places that they had like the movie room, the dining area, the laundry area, and the opportunities for exercise. They have a chapel and social interaction. We had a very good tour. We went to three different apartments there. The spaces are relatively small, but then you actually have a lot of space if you count all of the shared common areas. They were very clean and nice. The bathrooms all had walk-in showers, which is important. There's a fairly good amount of closet space and a small little kitchenette area that has a half-sized refrigerator. We would bring a microwave, but my mother doesn't need much because three meals a day are provided. The staff said if someone doesn't feel up to coming down to the dining hall, that they would deliver the food to the room. I feel like they really gave very good options. The dining area was bright, very elegant, and had plenty of light. Most tables had three to four places; therefore, it wasn't crowded at any tables. It was very nice.

Durham Regent was in the middle of renovations during my visit. They were getting ready to revamp everything when COVID hit so they already packed all their books away. They have new library shelves but those were all empty. They just didn't have time and I understood that completely. All the rooms have clean carpets and everything was clean though. I thought I could live there. It's an independent living facility and the person I talked to, Kristen, was very helpful, very friendly, and took her time with me. I felt a little rush at the other place I visited but I felt very, very comfortable with Kristen. She's very approachable. She called back after my visit and wanted to set up for lunch. Everything is in a circle, you can go up and down the glass elevator and you can see the dining room from any floor. It felt like a hotel but it also had a homey feel. You'd be in the apartment and everything, but it did not feel institutional at all.

I took a tour of Durham Regent for my mother. I went there, but I didn't meet the contact person. I didn't like what I saw; it felt like a nursing home. I saw too many people, and not enough privacy. She wouldn't enjoy living there, but it probably is a good place for some other families. I went in. I looked around and left. There are just too many residents, it didn't offer enough privacy. Some of the residents were really old. There's a difference between being old and helpless, and being old and vibrant.

My Dad has lived at Durham Regent for years. He loves his room and has made friends. He enjoys the food and the ability to be able to eat with friends. The staff has been able to keep the residents safe through the COVID outbreak with guidelines in place. He is still able to walk outside of the community, sit in the rocking chairs and even listen to musical performances. It has been very helpful during this quarantine to know that he is around others and is safe and happy. I am happy with Durham Regent.

I have been in the community almost two months. It has been enjoyable being able to go to the dining room for meals. Of course, we have to be socially distanced but the socializing has been wonderful. I have enjoyed the music both inside and outside of the community.

Staff is making an effort and I admire that, my questions and curiosities are respected and listen. They ask, how can I help? They care about me and are self motivated. I am comfortable here. Other residents feel as I do, it is a good, comfortable and accomodating community. I enjoy living here.

Rooms are spacious and light filled. Staff has been helpful, friendly, kind and professional from the beginning of my mother's move-in. My 93 year old mother likes walking down the hall, sitting in the rockers out front with other residents and with the meals she has gained weight. The community offers 3 meals and a snack, daily newletter, front desk staff is always helpful and friendly.

I moved into Durham Regent last June in independent living. The people are very friendly, and the food is good. The place is very open. Everybody knows everybody and says hello to everybody in the hallway, both staff and residents. They have a lot of activities. I have a one-bedroom apartment with an outdoor porch on one end of the living room and a kitchenette on the other. They have exercise equipment and an activities director. They have card games and a bus that takes you to shopping and medical appointments. They have an activities room and they have people coming in to give concerts.

The girl at Durham Regent was nice, but the food was cold. The service was rough and none of the staff members were friendly. The place itself looked like it could use some renovation. The rooms looked nice though, but I wouldn't recommend them. When you walk in the front door, there's a musty smell that just knocks you down. It just didn't look like it was kept up properly.

Durham Regent was clean and had a nice appearance. The atmosphere was good. The people were friendly. Overall, it was a good impression. Parking was good but a little tight. The staff who gave me the tour was friendly and informative. Their studio room was small for my mom, but I like the fact that it had an area where you could go out. It looked out to the highway and the view was good. I also liked the setup of the one-bedroom. I liked that the kitchen was close to the living room, and that the bedroom was spacious too.

The apartment at Durham Regent was tiny but nice enough and clean. The dining area looked friendly because the residents can sit with each other and go from table to table. They had nice garden areas, a really good library, and a game room. They showed us the menu, which had more variety compared to the ones we saw in other places.

Durham Regent was excellent, very pleasant, and professional. The apartments were very accommodating, appropriate in size, and definitely served its purpose. The place was clean and smelled very good. I didn’t notice any activities but they did have a schedule in the elevator and when you walk in the building. The grounds were excellent, well kept, and clean. I liked the landscaping.

Durham Regent's environment and surroundings were fair. I didn't like the rooms nor the bathroom, which opened into the living room instead of the bedroom. The staff was good, the dining hall looked good, and I didn't see the activities. The location was in my range, and the cost was reasonable comparable to the rest.

I visited Durham Regent. They have great staff. They have been really helpful and really interested in the residents and the families. They get along well with each other, so in that sense, you don't feel like somebody is trying to raise the rent on you. They're trustworthy. The apartments are bright and cheerful. They're small but bright and cheerful. The wait staff was really cordial. There's a lot of interaction. I would say it is a social place. It doesn't have a pool, but it does have small weight room. The staff stood out to me.

I visited Durham Regent. I thought the facilities were limited. The price was way too expensive for what was offered. However, the staff was pleasant and helpful. They answered my questions. I thought they needed better exercise facilities and more encouragement for residents to use them.

The rooms at Durham Regent were adequate and large. The only problem that I have with that one is they had carpet on the floor. I was pleased with the service that I received, and it’s within the budget that I’m looking.

Durham Regent had very friendly staff, good activities, and a variety of spaces. They had separate and different-sized apartments within the facility, and it was a larger facility. My only negative would be that it is 1980’s decorated and probably needed some updating. They had a chapel, speakers coming in, crafts, games, and movies; they had pretty much anything.

Durham Regent is an apartment type facility. They do have assisted living, dementia, and Alzheimer’s facilities. They have caregivers coming in with a few activities. I have a 2-door studio apartment; there is the door that comes in and the door that goes to the bathroom, but the bedroom doesn’t have a door. The food is very good. They gave you a choice of salads, fruits, and meats. They have silverware on the table. But there is one concern; the concern I have is the place is not very clean at all. They have bugs, and some people have ants. We have artificial plants and trees here; they should have washed it or thrown it away.

My mother in law went to Durham Regent. The location was appropriate, it seemed real clean, well-managed, and it was competitively priced. The rooms are fine, she has a bedroom, living room, and kitchen combination. The dining facility seemed very nice. They have ice cream socials, Bingo, and they have an entertainer come in occasionally. They have a library, some exercise equipment, they have a trivia game, and they take them shopping, once in a while. The staff seemed very dedicated, and there was nothing to complain about at all.

Durham Regent had cottages detached from the main facility. It was interesting, but on the end, my parents would have to go outside to go to the main facility to have their meals, so we ruled this community out. They do have rooms in the main facility, but they are more expensive. My parents want a two-bedroom. The rooms are nice, but they have a limited number of two-bedrooms. My wife and I had a chance to have lunch there when we checked out the place and the food was good. It cost more than others. The cottages were less costly because you only pay for two meals a day versus three meals a day, but there's the inconvenience of having to walk from your cottage to the main dining area. It is OK when it is a nice weather, but if it was rainy or snowy, it just doesn’t make sense.

Durham Regent was very nice. We saw a one-bedroom apartment, cottages, and common area, and all of that was very nice and seemed well maintained. We didn’t see any activities, but we were given a sheet of activities for the month that seemed quite extensive. They have movies, bingo, and exercise class. We saw the dining area in the tour, and it was very nice. It was like in the middle of the building on the third floor, so I thought that was unusual, but it was really nice. You can sit there and look around and see things like an atrium; I like the way it was placed in the building. Cindy was very friendly, very professional, and knew everybody by name. She was very accommodating to us, too. In fact, we did our interview right there in the one-bedroom apartment, so we were able to see it and see how it feels for our mom. Then she took us over to the cottages, and they were very nice. She was very engaging, very knowledgeable, professional and friendly.

I lived at Durham Regent for 10 months; it was terrible. The food tasted OK, but it was not good for seniors. It was too salty. It was inappropriate at times. They had regular meetings for feedback, and no matter what you said, nothing ever changed. The room was fine, but the bathroom was not attached to the bedroom. There was no microwave or oven. It was a small apartment size. Also, the key to my door didn't fit the outside door, so when I went out on my patio, I couldn't get back in with my key. The maintenance girl was horrible. The activities were OK for awhile, but then the managers changed a lot, so the activities changed as well. The overall atmosphere was not great. People complained a lot, but nothing ever changed.

I had a good experience during my visit at Durham Regent. Cindy was very friendly and took me on a tour of the facility. It was a good and thorough tour. It was clean, and the rooms were of good size. The dining room was set up for four persons per table with tablecloths. They had a viewing room with a large TV which was good because my dad likes sports as much as I do.

The apartments at Durham Regent are excellent. It has three stories. The meals are all inclusive. There is a health care service that you can purchase. The food is excellent. The dining area is beautiful and large, and I think they have a little over 100 or 120 residents on that site. It has a recreation room, a library, an exercise room, an on site church, a beauty parlor, and a small store. They have activities. They are playing Wii bowling, watching movies, and reading.

They have bus transportation 3 or 4 times a week to take people to shopping, hairdressers, and doctor's appointments. Transportation is really not a problem. Durham Regent is close to where we live. It’s close to all the places my dad needs to go for his follow up appointment. He has a simple apartment. He likes the age group because there are a lot of veterans here. Legacy helps care for the residents. Food is one of the drawback, they don’t serve his diet but he can walk around it. It’s not completely salt free but it’s not a bad diet either. They also serve a good variety of fresh foods to choose from. My dad likes the place.

I took a tour at Durham Regent and I thought that the place is actually pretty nice. I was looking for my mom and I think this facility is nice. It was very convenient to where she wanted to be and where she is right now, so she wouldn't have to re-learn an area. I really like it.

Durham Regent, the facility itself, was fine. I was just surprised that there were so many people in wheelchairs, walkers, and canes. They had some cottages where meals were not required, but I was surprised that meals were required and included. The staff was very friendly. As far as the cleanliness, the friendliness, and so forth, they're fine, but it's not what I need right now. I'm just not interested.

Staff were always pleasant and prompt. The building and grounds are very, very nice. Beautiful, modern interiors, very well-maintained individual residences, and professional gardens. The food wasn't very good, but other amenities were excellent. Lots of activities and very active seniors who actually participate and interact with one another, making for a great community. Location was excellent also, as many attractions like zoos and museums are very nearby. One thing to remember about this place is that they only provide very limited care of the sick. People who live here must be reasonably healthy, and many people are motivated to hide their degenerative illnesses, lest they be asked to leave.

The facility is clean, the rooms are nice, the staff is dedicated and seems to really listen to residents. They especially take care of residents during emergency situations, like power outages, severe cold, or outbreak of influenza. The food is good but not great, and that is the main complaint. There are a lot of activities for residents. It's a nice place to be.
