This property charges expensive entrance fees but do not offer the levels of care that any other CCRC in Raleigh offers. They offer an enhanced living option but it is not robust and very misleading. Be careful when placing your loved one here because it is very likely they will be asked to leave as soon as they need a higher level of care despite any thing the administrator may tell you before moving in. The skilled facility Mayview is run down and has a high percentage of Medicaid patients. With out warning they began a multi year construction project turning a retirement home into a construction zone. Run don't walk from Whitaker glen.

Whitaker Glen is so depressing and doesn't have very upgraded facilities. The staff seemed to be OK, and the rooms are not very well-appointed. There were no phones or televisions, and there doesn't seem to be a communal room. I wouldn't recommend it. The patients were sitting in the hall all slumped over, and I don't like to see it. It just was not good.

They have apartments at Whitaker Glen. They have a dining hall, they do all the housekeeping, and there’s a doctor and nurse on-call. It’s a pretty big place. Not only did they have apartments, they have cottages also. It has been two years since I have been there, and all I can say is we were favorably impressed with everything. The dining halls were nice. The facilities were nice. Parking was good. Everything was good. The room was clean and big. The staff was courteous and polite.

The Oaks at Whitaker Glen is absolutely fabulous. The marketing director was just very, very helpful. We had lunch there, and we also went over to their skilled nursing center. The apartments were very nice and we thought it was the best bang for the buck.

I had the opportunity to tour The Oaks at Whitaker Glen. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and the order apparent right upon my arrival. A lot of assisted living facilities have a cold sterile feel to them, but I didn't feel that way at all! The staff was very welcoming and open. They answered all of my questions and even gave some additional insight about various things that I would have never thought to question. I noticed some students working with the residents and I was put at ease that not only were the students courteous and conscientious in their work, but the nursing staff was close by to offer assistance while allowing them to maintain their independence.Additionally, I was quite pleased with the availability of single and double rooms and the sizes of each. The move to assisted living isn't an easy decision for anyone, but I felt confident and assured in the ability of the staff at The Oaks.

My elderly friend lives at Whitaker Glen, and it's a nice assisted living community. Whitaker Glen is located in Five Points, a trendy area in downtown Raleigh, and it's close to shopping, grocery stores, drug stores and restaurants. Her "apartment" (as I call it) is very spacious and more upscale than most retirement communities I've seen. The "apartment" comes with a separate living & dining area, nice sized kitchen, bathroom, hallway, and large bedroom. Her living quarters include stainless steel appliances with granite countertops, and a balcony outside. The grounds and landscaping are well maintained and the community has some very bright (and active) residents. My friend has made a number of friends w/ other residents in the community. They offer day trips, shows, activities, concerts and transportation services. There is a restaurant within Whitaker Glen (with decent food), and they also have a wellness center (fitness & workout area). I would definitely recommend Whitaker Glen if you're looking for an upscale assisted living community.
