The biggest problem is medication not given and allowing it to run out. There are a couple of really good med techs but there are some that you wonder how they passed their test. It's a possibility they're lazy rather than incompetent. The only way to ensure your loved one is getting their medication is to stay on top of them and you still have to follow up because they'll tell you that's it's taken care of and it won't be. If you don't they could be going without an important medication for multiple days at the very least. Their selling point is the size of their rooms which are spacious and has it's own bathroom plus everything in eye view appears to be fairly clean. It doesn't have a strong smell of urine or feces which is good. If more of their staff could be competent it has the potential to be a 5 star facility. However I was gracious with my rating because to me medication is of the utmost importance in a facility and when staff allows medication to run out or just not give it that's a big problem and should be rated lower but I was trying to be fair about the amenities.

I visited a resident. We wanted to execute a healthcare power of attorney. I imagined elderly people need this. The staff was hateful nasty and threw me out because I wanted to execute this man's power of attorney. They called the police. I encourage everyone to avoid this facility like the plague. Staff seemed incompetent residents were sitting in the Hall drooling and I encourage everyone to pull their residents out if possible.

My husband is in Alamance House. They offer their own pharmacy and that's very helpful. The staff is friendly, and the nurses are nice and seem to be competent. They have a library and more than one place for sitting that had couches. Each person is allowed to have their own TV and even bring in a different bed if they want to. They have wide halls where the people can walk with their walkers or roll in their rolling chairs. They have a private room with a private bath, which costs more. His room is a private room with a shared bath. They had a guitarist come in for entertainment and some other people with instruments. They have a piano and anyone is allowed to play it. I had seen groups of women going out in their bus, and he played bingo the other day. They seem to encourage the people to be active. It's very close to the Alamance Medical Center, so it's convenient for the people to go to the doctors and hospitals in that area. It's not perfect, but it's a good place for people who need help. I haven't found anything that I object to. The facility is very well done. They have one area on one end of the building that is for memory care and the other areas are for assisted living. It's a long spread-out building all on one floor. They have several little porches that you can go out and sit and places where people can walk outside. Each room has a window. The floors are hardwood and it's an older building, but it's been kept up. I found them to be the most affordable for me.

Giving them one star is generous. My mother was there for one month and the list of things that were so far below even the lowest of standards is too long to put here. Within the first 24hours of being there my mother fell and they sent her to the ER, no one! NO ONE even called me...not that day and not the next....I called to check on her and a poor innocent CNA told me as a side comment. I am local and I would have and ALWAYS go to the ER with my mother...had I known. They ignored her requests to use the bathroom, my mother is wheelchair confined. I would go visit and there would be bags of soiled undergarments on the floor in her bathroom. Feces on the floor and liquid soap spilled one time. I asked them if someone could clean it up...I was there for 4 hours and not a sole showed to clean it. I ended up doing it myself. The staff left cigarettes on her night stand, her bed was unmade when I would visit. Her room spelled like urine.
I have called the corporate office to express my concerns 7 times ( this is NOT an exaggeration) they have NEVER returned my call I left on their hotline. I left messages for the Executive Director and Regional Director. It saddens me that there is such little care and concern for the residents in this facility. It is evident to me now that this is a lack of good management. I would not put my worst enemy in this facility.

Never ever put your loved one in this facility. They are very understaffed and the food is absolutely not good enough to feed a poor dog dying. People line up to get their medications and they even loose the key to the medication box at times.

My mother was in Alamance for a week. This is a new facility and it’s only two years old. They are very understaffed, I think they have too many patients for the staff to handle. The food looked like it was pretty good although she wasn’t eating much at that time. The facility looked very clean altogether.

Alamance House is wonderful. It's a homey place; it's clean. The staff is caring and kind and if they're not, they don't get to stay there. They didn't keep somebody with an attitude. I'm impressed with that because when you work with elderly, you have to be happy around them. The CNAs there and the medtechs are good. If you wheel yourself up to the desk and talk to them, they will respond to you and smile. The director is very good.
They're really on top of things. The facility is only 1-year-old. It's beautiful. Mom has been there now since February and I am very impressed. They are really, really good to her and she is happy there.
My mom is paralyzed on the left side so she doesn't have use of her left arm but she does participate in bingo and they have groups come to sing. They have preachers come to preach. The activity director does her nails on Friday. If you call a couple of hours before mealtime and just let them know so they can make an extra plate, you can eat with them. It's very reasonable. I do that from time to time and it is good food. I would recommend it.
