I wasn't as taken with Brookdale High Point as the others I looked at. For one thing, the timing was bad because they had a serious leak in their ceiling and workmen were there repairing that leak that had flooded some of the floors and we were having to move around them.
They had one room that would be available that the staff showed me, and it was average. To me, it wasn't nearly as nice a room as the other place offered. I had a scheduled tour, but when I first went in, no one seemed to know about it. It took a while for me to find someone who knew what was going on. Bambi was my tour guide and she was very thorough and very friendly. She's both called and left me messages and emailed me since then. I met several other staff members just very briefly and I had a very positive vibe from them.
The dining area was nice. The grounds were nice. They had some outdoor grounds, but one side opened onto the parking lot off the street. If you're lucky enough to get a room on the other side, you had a pretty good view. The thing that stands out to me is the workmen working at the crossroads point of the facility. It was where two hallways intersect, working on the ceiling there, and having to go around them. Unfortunately, that's one of the main impressions I have besides that one room.

Brookdale High Point was wonderful. The location was just a little further from where my aunt lives. Other than that, the lady who gave me the tour was definitely wonderful. She showed me everything from the kitchen to the hallways, the front entrance, and the room that mom would be staying in (if they had an empty room available). It was immaculate. As soon as I walked in the door, it was clean. Everything was clean from the carpet, the floors, and the smell. It was just pleasant to go through and walk around. The staff was more than willing to help and answer any questions. She even gave me a follow-up just the other day to see if I found a place.

The people at Brookdale High Point were all very friendly. Lots of people were going to dinner, we saw several residents that were happy. That one guy told us how much he enjoyed being there and how great the staff was. Their activities didn't look quite as good as the other place we toured, but they had several, including a card group, and things that various people like to do. They also had an exercise group. All the staff members that we've interacted with were fine and friendly. We saw the dining area, it was nice, and a lot of people were there. I thought it was clean and well-kept, but I had concerns about that. A couple of the rooms that I saw were being redone.

I went to Brookdale High Point. The individuals seemed to be happy. It seemed more like a home than a room where people go to die. The staff was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable, was thorough, and called me a couple of times to see if I wanted to bring my father to have lunch or to visit. They have a location where hair can be done, and if you had somebody that would come in or you wanted access to the area, you could. They have lots of outdoor seating. It was clean and well maintained.

I toured Brookdale High Point, it was wonderful. The gentleman that gave us the tour, he's the director, and he was fantastic and very informative. My mother would have to qualify for a semi-private room, which is not going to work for us, but he is still doing some research for me. He is very, very easy to deal with. The rooms were a little outdated, but it looks like they're actually in the process of doing some remodeling. I saw a room but the Jack-and-Jill was a little bit small. Overall, the community was very pleasant. In the dining area, people were eating, conversing, and the atmosphere seemed to be fine. It sounds like they have a lot of different activities, they're busy all day long. Their social director is very involved now thanks to the grace of God. So overall, those things are very good for my mom. The community seemed very pleasant and the director was fantastic. He engaged with a lot of different people and they seemed to know him. He's very friendly, so I think he's a real asset to them.

My husband is in Brookdale High Point. When I visited, they told me they would get him right in PT. They didn't do that until Friday, and he's been over there since 20th of last month. He was just over there for respite care for 30 days to give me a little break and have him take PT. I don't know how many times they are going to come out for him because he gets out on the 19th.
They told me to bring all his personal belongings, like for shaving and all that, and I did, but his Depends was gone really fast. His daughter brought a big pack in and they're gone. I don't really know what's going on over there. If somebody sends their loved one over there, they're gonna have to check them about every day or every other day. They do the washing, and that's fine.
The layout was fine. Most places had that odor, but I didn't smell anything that day. I don't know if they changed housekeeping or what, but his bathroom hasn't been cleaned since he's been there. The rooms are big. They have call buttons in the room, one in the bathroom and two in the bedrooms. He has dentures and they don't get him to take them out at night. All these are important to me and I think it's important to the patient, too, that you attend to all of their needs.
They place him in a wheelchair the whole time he's been there. He was on a walker moving fairly slow, but they've not used the walker since he's been there. I'd go in, and he's sitting there with his head hung. He's lost a lot of his mentality and that messes him up. If you're not around all the time, you won't know half of what they're telling you is true or not.
Every time I would ask what they were having, they'd say, "I don't know I'll check." Sometimes, I'm there when he eats and the times that I've been there when he ate, it was a good meal, but he said in the mornings, his eggs are cold when they get there. They have a warmer box because I talked to the man that works there, and he said they should keep it in the warmer box if he's not going in the cafeteria and keep it warm until they get to his room.
I want him to get out of that room and go mingle with the others, but he's not a sociable person, so I can't make him. That's why they need to have some activities going on for him. They told me they did, but when I go in at different times of the day, I don't see any activity going on. There may be two or three upfront talking, but that's about it. They're not doing any activities.
It was cheaper than have someone coming in the house working day and night. Money wise, it was a pretty good price. I think they should have meetings with the staff and know what each patient needs. My husband has to have really chopped up food because he has a problem with his swallowing, and a lot of times they don't know that because I've been to the kitchen and I said, "No, he can't eat that." There are special things for special people. I know it takes time, but that's the work you're in, so you should do your best.

I visited Brookdale High Point in person. We were very pleased with that facility. We have not ruled it out completely. The staff members were very accommodating and knowledgeable. It's small. The size of the rooms are nice. We found the staff to be very accommodating and friendly. It's not the newest location, but it's very appealing and clean. Actually, even with the COVID, they were having a musician that was playing outside when we went that day.

My father moved into Brookdale High Point. We haven't been there very long, but we've been very pleased so far. The food is not very good, the staff is very nice, helpful, and his room is good size, but he's really disappointed with the food. They have some outings, lunch out, they have bingo, they have bible study, and an exercise group, so they offer a lot of activities. I have seen several of their meals, it's not appetizing, it's not home-cooked, but I have not tasted it. I think it's a very good atmosphere, very loving, homey, and comfortable.

My mother has already moved into Brookdale High Point, and we're getting ready to move her to memory care. It's a beautiful place, decorated very well with bright colors, and it's nice and clean. The staff is friendly and willing to help if you have any questions. It feels like home when you walk in. It's not like a regular nursing home and I really like it. They have plenty of activities and they take very good care of them. They're pretty good-sized rooms. Her room has a nice big window, two little closets, little bathroom with tub, commode, and shower stall and it has a little seat if you need it. It is laid out nicely. Their dining area is wonderful and has restaurant style setting. They've got church on Sunday mornings, craft classes, physical, occupational or speech therapy, and a TV room. They've got wonderful furniture to sit around. They had someone playing the piano and singing. They have a beauty shop and a barber shop. The staff is wonderful. I had lunch with my mom and it was delicious. They have a choice of two different entrees and if they don't want that, they can fix you sandwich.

We recently moved my grandmother in and she has nothing but great things to say about it. The staff has been so friendly, the rooms are nice and they have a lot of things for them to do here.

Brookdale High Point was like a hotel room with no kitchen, and the room only had one closet. The tour and the staff were good. They did invite me for lunch, and the dining room wasn’t as pretty. They were adequate, but weren’t as fancy and might have been a few years old.

Brookdale High Point wasn't as appealing to me. It was an assisted living facility, so they helped residents more, but the price was higher because of that. They had sing-alongs and bingo. The room I saw had a teeny tiny coat closet.

Brookdale would be closer to us if my aunt would want to go to church and somebody could come by to pick her up. It would be more convenient. They had a two-bedroom suite in the independent unit, but they also had a health care unit. We were considering it, but the price was $1,900, and that was too much because she had to pay herself, and at 93, she had used up all of her savings. We were waiting for her VA benefit.

Price was a consideration at Brookdale High Point, and the location is within probably a mile and a half from my house. I am satisfied, and the staff appeared to be more concerned with the residents on the individual basis.

Brookdale High Point was a really nice place. They were very friendly. I liked the dining area. It looked really nice. I was there after lunchtime, and people seemed to be OK and pleased with their meal. It was a friendly environment. The people seemed to be well cared for as well.

When my father was a resident there, I found the staff to be barely adequate. His room was across from the staff break room. If he called for assistance and the staff person for his hall was on break, she/they had a nasty attitude about being called. He was a fall risk and when they would call to tell me that he had been transported, they may or may not have transported him.

The apartments at High Point Manor were nice; I had no problem with it. The staff was excellent, very personable, very helpful, and willing to answer any questions. They had a lot of activities, and they seemed to keep the residents busy. The dining area was well maintained and comfortable. I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff.

The staff seemed to be pretty nice at High Point Manor, but I wasn’t very impressed with the atmosphere. Mom was looking for assisted living as she is pretty independent and mobile, and the people at High Point Manor were not as independent. They were not as mobile and active so I was kind of hesitant to go there.
The rooms were spacious, the dining room was more of a formal dining area, and it looked very nice. It smells, and I think they must improve on that.

We weren't enthused with High Point manor. I donÍt know why but I didn't seem to like it, there wasn't a homey feeling. The grounds are well-kept and they have the same amenities as the other places I've seen.

Located on Hartley Drive in High Point, this facility had to built for comfort and durability. When I first walked in, I felt like I was in a regal place of sorts. Well, it wasn't that great but you get the idea.
What is great about this facility is that they get with every single resident and work out a plan with that person to see what fits best with them. A lot of facilities do not do that.
Staff seems to be at every turn and the management is there at your every beckoned call. The grounds looked great. In fact there is nothing I can really say that would be negative about this facility except for the fact that it was lunch time and I could not be shown around because there was a lack of staff.
