We chose Woodland Terrace for ourselves. It is away from the very busy streets, so it's very quiet. It's just 2 blocks from Trader Joe's and all those places where I buy fruits. To me, the location was great. We only have 180 residents. We have a pond with a walking trail and ducks on it. The people here are extremely friendly. I just came back from a friendship committee where I am a volunteer. There are a few things that I would personally want different. But to me, the things that were of high concern were the heated pool, the walking space, the fact that it's not too big, and the freedom we have in this community. We have breakfast. You just get bacon and eggs and other choices. By 11:30, we have lunch. If you want dinner, you pay an additional $200. We cannot eat two of these meals. It's impossible. We eat fruit in the evenings and that's good. They offer the activities that I need and they have good facilities here.

We're currently at Woodland Terrace. The rooms are very adequate. When they have enough staff, they clean once a week. However, we haven't been cleaned this week. They're short of staff. So there is cleaning available. I came here thinking I was going to get a little more help with my husband. He had a stroke 11 years ago. You have to pay extra to get help with your husband. Then one time he fell, and I called down for assistance, and there wasn't any, and they just called 911. It's not what I thought. They have all kinds of activities. I confined myself to the apartment because of my immune system, and of course, with the COVID and so forth. We do get checked every week, so if we have any COVID, we know about it. And I like that part. But we haven't been as sociable as we could be just because of my situation. People are friendly, and that's not a problem. They have all kinds of things to do and committees to work on. You could play bingo, have music, or go to the movies. They give you a whole month's menu that you can participate in. I think the activities are probably very good, and I think a lot of people appreciate them. We haven't, but you can't say that they don't offer it. They even go out to eat at a restaurant, and they go shopping at Walmart. They have this little bus service, and they even will take you to a doctor's office on a certain day. They have exercise, and they go exercising in the swimming pool. They have all kinds of things.

We went to Woodland Terrace. We had a wonderful tour with a lovely lady. I've lost her name for the moment, but she was very helpful and we liked the place very, very much. The rooms and all were lovely. The dining area was very nice. Oh, it's just very pretty. They have a beautiful fountain you look out on from the dining room area, and they have a lovely pool that's enclosed like in a big greenhouse, so you can see outside, but it’s a big full-sized pool. Right next to it is their workout center, which we like very much, all modern equipment, everything is well-updated. We were very impressed with the place. I liked it a lot. The location is very good because it's still not far from downtown Cary and a lot of places that we like. Our favorite Mexican restaurant we could walk to from the place. We like that. I'm impressed. The facility itself was all updated and clean. They were very nice to get us a whole pamphlet folder with all their information, and they had the menu in it, but we were not invited to eat.

I did a tour of Woodland Terrace. It was a little dirty. In the main building, you had a choice between getting a tiny washer/dryer combination or a dishwasher, and that's weird. The person who gave the tour, Kimberly, was very nice and very helpful. They had a pool. They were very nice and clean, but the rooms that we saw looked a little dated, old and small. They need to update the rooms, have washer/dryers, and dishwashers in the apartment. Right now, you can only get one or the other; a tiny little washer/dryer combination, or a dishwasher. If you get the dishwasher, you have to go down the hallway to use a community washer/dryer. My wife has incontinence, and I can't go in at night if I have to wash sheets or something.

My first experience with Woodland Terrace was that they double booked me, so I ended up having to wait half an hour before somebody could see me, which I did not appreciate. They had the best theater that I experienced in any of the ones I looked at. The room was the nicest of all of them that I had seen. Of course, they showed me a model, but it was a good-sized room. It had a full kitchen, which I liked. In the kitchen, you could either have a dishwasher or you could have a combo washer/dryer. There was lots of light coming into the room that they showed me. You had to check-in and push a button like every day to say that you're OK, and I like that a lot. I have a pet and they allowed pets. What I liked was if you had a first-floor unit, you could put a gate around your little patio that was outside, so that your pet could be outside in the little patio. They did not give me pricing. The staff said she was gonna email it, but she never did. They have a standing facility for physical activity if you want to stay physically active. They have an indoor pool, and they have classes there. They have a separate exercise room, and they have recumbent bikes with a computer screen, so that when you're riding them, it looked like you were on a trail. They had an activity director and a recreational director. The facility was excellent.

I have lived at Woodland Terrace, in Independent Living, for 1.5 years. The community advertises gourmet food and excellent service. The food is of very poor quality, and mistakes are often made. Tonight I ordered an entree salad made with feta cheese. I noticed JUST in time that it was made with goat cheese. I am violently allergic to goat cheese and would have vomited violently about two hours after eating the salad. Two salads are offered on the menu. I particularly ordered the salad with feta, NOT the one with goat cheese. When I called the dining room, I was told that only one salad was served to everyone that ordered a salad! Oh and the continental breakfast is often lacking coffee, cups, utensils, cereal, pastries, etc. No one manages the breakfast, which is 'offered' from 6 am to 10 am. It is a joke.

I can't say enough good things about Woodland Terrace and its staff. The staff cares about its residents and goes the extra mile. The facility is nice and, pre-Covid, there were a lot of activities that kept my mom busy and engaged. Recently, my mom needed some things done in her room that would be something that I would do. Given Covid-19, I cannot go into the facility to visit my mom. I asked Mike J for help. He and his team helped my mom. Also, sometimes my mom needs help and she will go to the front desk in the lobby to ask for assistance. Every team member is friendly and helps her. If needed, they will call me. I can't tell you how much it means to me and to my family knowing that my mom is in a place that cares about her and can help her have the best life possible. I highly recommend this place for you or your loved ones if you are looking for a place that fosters great community, has nice amenities and is close to shopping and restaurants.

Woodland Terrace Woodland Terrace was beautiful. They had assisted living, independent housing, and also an Alzheimer's unit. It's large and clean. It was nice inside and kept up nicely. It felt like an apartment complex. They had a dining room, an exercise room, a library, meeting places, and ample parking.

I moved my mother here from another Independent Living (IL) facility in Apex. The previous facility was much less expensive, newer, and in many ways better. Woodland was $1050 a month more, but mother wanted the location. Even though it was not quite the good deal of the previous facility, the staff seemed good and the rooms were nice. We had a few issues with a night desk clerk who I will call "J," but it did not seem serious at first. After a couple months Woodland was purchased by Kisco. All the management was replaced, but some of the lower level staff were retained. Housekeeping was great, most daytime staff was great. The new director, who I will call "Mr. T," definitely acted like an absentee owner. While the directors at other facilities I have dealt with were always available and engaged, Mr. T seems to excel only at delegation. Unlike the previous director he did not seem to be there as much, and was not available when he was. The resident relations manager helped us quite a bit though. He was great. The night clerk, "J," started to run a little gossip fiefdom at night. She would harass my mother to the point of real anger. When the poor woman finally reacted, the behavior was blamed on her dementia. Mr. T reacted by giving my mother a letter of warning. "J" would also verbally harass my family members for information, to the point that they would not visit my mother at night. I seriously believe "J" is under the impression she is more than a desk clerk. This verbal harassment mostly took the form of trying to pry personal information out of everyone. While a petty busybody like this would not usually bother me, we were all afraid "J" would take some sort of twisted revenge on my mother. My mother then had three falls on successive nights. I was unable to convince the hospital to keep her or help place her in a rehab facility temporarily. So I hired 24 hour sitters. Checking on this was made more difficult by "J," as the harassment did not stop. I was constantly given arguments about care and sharing information from "J." "J" even had the night security person call me to ask about medications at 2AM. I brought this inappropriate behavior to the attention of management the next day, but there was no change in behavior. On the third day of my mother's falling issues she fell when the 24 hour sitters were with her. At that time I received an email from Mr. T. This basically said that my mother 1.) needed 24 hour watching (which she had), 2.) that we needed to follow the doctor's orders (what?), and 3.) that he would call Adult Protective Services (APS) if things did not improve. To answer the email issues: 1.) mother did have 24 hour watchers when she fell again 2.) we were following doctor's orders. I believe this accusation was made up by "J" as I had not shared any real information with her at this time. Likely "J" was trying to look good to her incompetent boss. 3.) "J" attempted to tell me my responsibilities as POA many times. As this was my fourth POA in five years I really did not need her warped little lesson. I am not sure what this threat of APS was meant to accomplish or even imply. It is sad this was done, and disturbing that those working in elder care would so misunderstand what POA means. Particularly a director. I told him I would welcome help from APS or anyone else. I really could have used any help at the time. I was working hard to move her elsewhere but did not share this information with "J." Their "threatening" email was sent at a time when a caring facility would have reached out to the family with recommendations, or at least support. Overwhelmed families can really use a little understanding, not childish games and hollow threats. Most of the other staff was great. My family is not the type to act special or entitled, so I seriously doubt we are alone in this treatment. Fortunately I found a spot in a much more caring and professional AL facility for a more reasonable price than Woodland Terrace in Cary. It was also $1500 less per month than Woodland's AL unit (mother was in IL at this time). It is easy to find something better than Woodland.

My parents are on a waiting list for Woodland Terrace. It's very nice, 20 years old, friendly, and not too big, which my mother liked. The setting was very nice in a neighborhood with mature landscaping, and the apartments were bigger than some of the newer places we have seen. The staff was very nice. They had a pool, gym, and physical therapy office on site. The pool was especially nice and covered in a glass enclosure, so it seemed like you’re outside, and yet it was heated and air-conditioned which was important to my dad.
